I was in last nite at my lil petstore herelocally that I just LOVE (its one of the GOOD ones!!). Was talking toone of the girls that works there as she breeds Hollands.Told her I was looking for a Flemish....she happens to have oneavailable, but I don't think I'm gonna go for it, and would like to seeif anyone here might want to give her a home. I would loveto, but with her history I'm not sure she would be what I'm wanting formy son...as I think she'll take alot of work and he's only 10 and Ican't expect him to be that patient always...and I already have anotherskittish one I'm working with to gain trust.

Here's her story: She is 2.5 years old, not spayed. She's asandy color. A guy had her and a male and was wanting them tobreed, for some reason it didn't happen or he was an idiot orsomething...but anyway...because things didn't go how he had planned hestarved the male to death and was doing so to her. This galfound this out and basically took the female from him. She had bad sorehocks when she got her and she had to drain them etc. Thoseare mostly healed....she's friendly, but not overly so. Shecomes to the front of the cage etc, but isn't overly eager and doesn'tcoming running for attn. The gal that has her said she's prettyfriendly considering what she's been thru and how she was treatedbefore. I haven't yet met the bun but she told me if I'd like to justlet her know and she'll bring him into the store so I can meet her.

If anyone is interested please let me know and I'll talk to her, shesaid she doesn't want anything for her, just wants her to find a goodhome.

Thanks.

Oh, that poor baby! Can't the guy becharged with cruelty to animals for starving the male todeath? How could anybody do that to a helpless animal?

Well, this was a few months ago...she's had thefemale for awhile...I'd really love to take her in...but I want acompanion for my son...not one thats scared of him..if that makessense! I understand why it would benot at alltrusting..poor thing!

Oh, poor baby! I wished I lived closeror I'd take her in half a heart beat. Seems like hermistreatment hasn't totally ruined her trust of people, and with somepatience and spoiling (good loving) she could make a completeturnaround. I don't know if this applies to rabbits, but I'veseen dogs and cats that were abused by one type of person (male, female, child) respond well to someone that doesn't look like theirprevious abuser. ex- A dog abused by adult males but isgentle to females and children.

That poor baby. How truly awful. Myheart breaks for her. I wish I could take herbut sadly Ican't. I hope they can find an awesome home for her. That guy needs tobestarved to death. I'm sorry but that is tearing my heartout. Those poor bunnies. I'm going to go cry now.

Well the good thing is the gal that has her nowwill keep her, but I think she'd really like to find her a betterhome....where she'd get more time etc...She just took her in basicallyto keep her from that horrible death!! Which Is great in itself...Itstempting..but hubby would kill me if I ended up with 2 flemish!

I would take her but I have no way to get herhere as it is too hot to ship buns to Texas. I know thatthere is a "rabbit railway" for transporting buns but I have no ideahow it works.

If anyone on the board is traveling this way though and could bringher.....I'll take her. I'm sure I can help Tiny tounderstand....its my husband that I'd be more worried about - but Ithink he'd love her too.

OK guys....I talked to the gal, and if I don'twant her, she's decided to just go ahead and keep her...sorry for thefalse alarm!!!

But the generosity of the folks here is overwhelming!!!

I know where she is shes in a good home with a person that lovesbunnies...so either way...shes still MUCH better off than she was!

I found a Rabbit RailRoad website for you. Iwasn't able to check it out because I don't have time right now to signup, but I hope this can help out some of the people that need totransport a rabbit.Rabbit_Railway
