I have 2 dogs and I'm wondering if I put Flea Medicine on them if it will affect the rabbit. The reason I ask is I know that the only one that is okay for rabbits is advanage plus for cats and that any other can cause harm to a rabbit. The rabbit is housed in the living room where the dogs spend most of the day but they are never in direct contact outside of the dogs walking past the cage. Will this be a problem and if so what route should I take if I end up with fleas due to not treating the dogs. Any help/suggestions would be great.

Thanks

Josh

I'd probably be ok, but I think a better option would be to only treat if & when there IS a flea problem. You can nip it in the bud with frequent use of a flea comb & treat at the 1st sign.

Also, if your living room is carpeted, you should treat it periodically with boric acid powder. Sprinkle it all over the rug & vacuum. If you know there are fleas, I'd leave the powder on the carpet for as long as you can practically do so.

Flea medication for dogs and cats (or rabbits outside/going outside) should be used monthly.

What medication are you using on the dog?

Rabbits are safe with Advantage and Regolution, NOT Advantage plus or Advantage II. Pet store flea remedies can be toxic, Advantix for dogs can be fatal to cats nevermind rabbits. So it depends what you use. Honestly your best bet is to keep all animals in the house on the same drug for this, preferably revolution, but REGULAR advantage will work if revolution is beyond budget :)
