I am not sure if I should post this here, so if a mod wants to move it then go ahead..

Vegas' litter skills were getting better, but he still poops all over his cage..never pees outside of the box, but leave poos EVERYWHERE..every open corner...

So what I did was put 2 NIC panels overlapping to block off ateast 1/4 of the cage...giving him a little less cage space in order to keep him closer to the litter box in efforts to train him..
Is this a bad strategy?? I still let him out and give him pletny of strech and excercise time..His poo problem is taking over the cage..All of his stools are normal, normal sized, normal feeling...its just that they are always scattered around the cage..Not scattered like they got kicked out of the litter box..not like he pooped over the edge of the box--they are scattered like he just poops there..just stops and poos..

He DOES go in the box ALOT--but also poos outside of it alot.

Any better ideas then taking a quarter of the cage away?

I know that he is marking his territory...but this just seems extreme!
Not 3 or 4 little poos..I am talking about maybe 30 or so all over his cage...
He should be neutered the middle of this month..
I do put them back in the litter box everytime I go to the cage, but that doesnt help at all..

I have only had the cage reduced for about 2 days and it seems to be getting better-and when I let him out he used the box this time--soo maybe it IS helping.

But thank you for the suggestions..

Still looking for more suggestion everybody :)

I agree - for an unneutered bun, living near another unneautered bun, this sounds pretty standard. Even for fixed bunnies that live near other fixed bunnies, poo wars can be endless.

Even if the 2 rabbits never see each other?

Hmm, I am working on getting them neutered this month..

I didnt know that..

Thanks for that ya'll :D

My guy is doing the same thing! During the day he about 95% of the time uses his litter box. but at night, I think he goes crazy and just drops them everywhere. Especially up in his "loft" where I ended up putting another litter pan, but it hasnt helped. I too am hoping neutering helps!

My fixed rabbits will leave poops outside their boxes all the time. Personally, I consider a rabbit littertrained if it pees in the box. If you can get them to poop in there, then more power to ya.
