So, now that I have more pictures (not to mention BETTER pictures) of Fiver, I can finally ask ya'll what you think his breed mixture is. :)

So, throw those ideas at me! :D

The vet commented that he's rather muscular and his ears are thicker than any of my other buns...he's just all around boofier. In fact, I call him Mr. Boofimus Maximus! Haha! :D

So, here are some pictures of Fiver...

To show ear thickness:

He's approx. 1yr old and weighed 5.7lbs on this past 28 November, when he was at the vet's last. (We're going to buy a scale today, so I'll update you on his new weight.) The vet said she would like to see him at 6 - 6.5lbs. You can tell his face is a bit rounded, so I thought maybe he was a Holland Lop mix, but I'm not sure.

As you can see (and I'm sure ya'll noticed in past pics), his ears just do whatever they please...

This is the most common position they are in, from behind a perfect "L":

He's technically a tri-color boy, though he barely qualifies, given that his black spots kinda mottle on his ears, and he has a few small black spots on his rear.

His fur seems to have a tiny bit of a wave to it, and is a tad rougher than my other buns...but both of those could just be the rest of his "rescue coat" (as I like to call it) needing to shed off.

A bit of his history: Fiver was rescued from dodging cars...had been dumped outside by someone, living off of what little grass can be found in Southern California. I brought him home 30 Sept 07, an emergency rescue from the shelter he was in, because they thought he had head tilt (come to find out, the way his ears are oriented, they give the impression of a tilted head, but he's just fine...even vet assistants ask every time we go, though, hehe). He was assumed to be approx. a year old when they found him, so he could be anywhere around that age, really.

Sooo...what do you guys think? :biggrin2:

Let me know if you need anymore information, ok?

I lean towards thinking he's a minilop mix - largely due to his head shape (hollands have a more rounded head) and also because of his weight.

I'd love to hear what others have to say.

I would agree, I don't know that much about US minilops but he looks like a mix of one from what I have seen in pictures and videos on here.

Actually, his weight is perfect for a Mini Lop. As for the head structure, not all Minis have perfect heads. He has a long head but to me, I don't see any Holland.

I've always considered him a mini-lop mix. I think he either has extremely good control of his ears for a mini-lop or he's a mix.

Ok, cool! Thanks, guys!

(I've never realized he has big hind feet, hehe...)

I'll let Fiver know his breed right now. So, that means I have two mini-lops! :D

For some reason, I love this picture of him. It's so........ pathetically begging for grooming..... lol

Hehe! I know!! He's sure mastered that look of, "I'm soooo deprived...it's been AGES since you've loved on me...." Even if I'd just pet him five minutes before.

And it's funny...I took that one right DURING petting him...that's what he looked like during...I was petting, and then lifted my hand up and snapped the pic. Hehe!

He's such a cutie pie...:)

I:hearts my Fiver boy...

You can tell him he'll feel more like a "mini" when Teeny is done growing....:biggrin2:

Rosie, Bo does that! and it's like "if I keep my eyes closed and don't move - she'll come back and pet me some more!" LOL!

He's so cute!

Don't discount the possibility of a very large Holland Lop ;)

Pam...could he be a cross between a mini and a holland? That's kinda what I've had in my head for his breed...just because he's got that roundish face, yet it has a length to it.

Yep - he could be a mix.

The first thing that struck me when looking at the photos was "Holland Lop" due to the head, ear thickness, ear control, lenght of ears, body type, colorand the way he sits up. I've seen some very large purebred Hollands, so it's hard to say for certain.

Pam

Hollands without the dwarfing gene often are longer in body, ears and face making it more difficult to distinguish them from a Mini Lop.

Pam

Really? That's what I couldn't figure out - he didn't have that holland face so much.

He's so adorable tho...... who cares? LOL!

Never knew that.....I wonder how many people try to pass them off as Mini Lops? I know of some breeders who have shown a wooly Netherland Dwarf as a Jersey and did pretty well. In fact, at a show I was at today, the Fuzzy Lop breed was won by a Fuzzy Holland Lop.
