Kyle is a little over 4 mos. and has been eating mainly Alfalfa hay & young rabbit pellets, I’ve just recently started mixing in some Timothy hay with the Alfalfa.
He’s gotten picky and wasteful with his hay. He loves the dried leaf-like crumbs of the alfalfa, but leaves behind the actual straw-like hay pieces (and doesn’t even touch the Timothy). He also digs through it and flings a ton of unwanted hay into the litter. If I don’t replenish the hay with more of the fresh crumbs he likes, after hours have gone by I notice him start to eat the rest and I assume it’s because he’s gotten hungry enough. My question is- is it okay to not refill it as often to encourage him to eat all of it? Should I leave out the crumbs that he likes and only give him the straw pieces? I don’t want him to go hungry. How do I get him to be a good boy and eat his hay properly! Thank you!

The pictures I posted are of the wasted litter box hay and the stuff he likes to leave behind, and the crumbs that he loves to eat.
