So Jack and Sally have been pretty good so far in their new home! Sally is far more social and loves being held and petted as where Jack is a bit more shy. Because of this, Sally tends to get more attention out of the cage. So today, I took Jack out to give him some one on one time with us to help him get more familiar with us and ease him out of his shyness. He was out about 30min (Sally was in the other room in the cage). I put him back in his cage and after a few minutes, Sally started chasing him around and pulling out his fur!! So i guess my question is, when you have a bonded pair, do they always have to come out together?!?! She is definitely the more dominant of the two and loves to boss him around. When we take just her out, they are fine when back together and this was the first time we've had just him out...Help!

How long have your bunns been bonded?

We have two males who were bonded about 2 weeks...then for no apparent good reason they decided to try to pull each others fur out! The two of them love to compete for attention especially with me...and it can cause jealousy if one gets more attention than the other.

When we started taking the bunns out we would take them out together or take out the dominant bunn first, then the submissive one and then to end the session the dominant bunn again...

The longer they are together the less fighting there will probably be...but in the beginning there are a lot of ground rules to be set!For instance coming back home smelling like one of HER hoomins...just not done! lol

When my buns were bonded I never took just one out of the cage unless it was for a vet trip or something like that. I would try to let Sally out to run around so she is happy and then sit with Jack on the couch to get some extra attention. Then spend sometime with Sally on the couch. That way Sally is happy running around when you spend time with Jack plus she gets some extra lovings too and she is the last one to get the loving so hopefully when she goes back to play with Jack, she will forget about Jack getting it too.
