I've wanted to be an author since I was in second grade, when I used to write page after page of stories about dogs, more specifically usually most were some sort of a rescue dog. Although I've since changed my career plans to something more promising, I still love writing novels, and will most likely end up submitting a few to publishers due to theurges from friends, relatives, and professors after reading my work. My work has greatly improved, not to worry!

I just purchased three acclaimed writing books online: How to Write a Damn Good Novel, The First Five Pages: a writer's guide to staying out of the rejection pile, The Plot Thickens: 8 ways to bring fiction to life, and Self-editing for fiction writers. I figure, the only way to improve my writing is from reading, reading, reading. I read an average of three books a week, depending on how long they are, in all different genres. I'm constantly trying to widen my horizons.

I was just wondering if there were any fellow writers on this board? Hobby or professional? I leave for next year, and I'm still not sure what I want to major in. It's either going to be Dermatology or Veterinary Medicine, and then I want to minor in journalism and photography, because I want to be a freelance journalist on the side of another job. I'm taking a lot of writing classes from a local college even though I'm still in high school at the moment as well, and doing exceptionally well for my age... the lowest grade I've received so far on an assignment was a B, and that was because it was a science fiction peice, which is not my preffered genre to say the least!

Right now I'm mainly getting back into freelancing with non-fiction articles (I have several queries out to magazines and am waiting for a response). But I am also working on a novel (romance....and Tiny is going to be in it but NOT the main character). Still yet, the woman is going to eventually get into rabbit rescue and in followup books with other characters she'll eventually evolve into running a rescue or something like that.

I just got an EXCELLENT book today called "Building Believable Characters" and it was published by Writer's Digest Books. I have several books on writing - but most are about nonfiction so this is a GREAT resource for me and I've had so much fun just browsing through it.

I love writing stories too. I have always wanted to be an author since i was 8yrs old.

I have recently started writing a story which I posted on here a few weeks back, but I havent had the chance to carry on writing it at the moment. But I love writing it so I will soon!

I'm writing a new short stories,My most favorite "What happened to trey" a sad yet wonderful story about a girl and her brother.

Loving all the writers here :) I've had a few short stories and poems published in various magazines, as well. I've also won a few writing scholarships, so all's good. I can't decide on whether I should major in something english related, though. Because, there's a big chance that I could waste all my money on a nice college and degree and such, and then end up being broke. That's why I was thinking journalism... my aunt works for the Washington Post and makes a fair ammount of money. But knowing my luck I'd be stuck in a tiny local paper, lol.
