Well, I'm fairly sure Fen has mites around thebase of his left ear, flaky, itchy, but very mild case. No problem,I've dealt with those over the years and kittyflea powderclears them right up. Treated that yesterday.

Ok, so what puzzles me is the two baldish spots on his flanks. Treatedthem once last week or so, and still no new hair. No flakes or itchingor spreading either. It doesn't look anything like the little spotbelow his ear. The skin looks clean and healthy. So I treated the spotsagain yesterday, and we'll see. (oh, btw, I discovered he has FRECKLESthere! cute little gray pigment spots on his skin--and no it's not bugs)

I'm wondering if he's pulling it out.....any other options I'm missing?

Rose

P.S. I know a lot of you recommend Ivermectin, but after Buck'sErnestine's allergic reaction, I don't want to take that route with atiny sensitive rabbit that's already allergic to other stuff.

Rose just howclose is he to Pandy ? is hereachable for her to nip his fur out? as I was reading i was thinking maybe hotspot but if all looks pink and healthy (grey freckle that slaysme lol ) he may justbe bored and yanking a bit out. have you noticed if theres any under hislittle arm pits? typical placefor fur pulling withbored bunnies . and around hislittle feet ? I suspect he maybe getting even withyou for posting that picture of Bubbers lol , j/k

With Fen I dont blame you fornot wanting to risk Ivermectrin AfterErnisateines eppisode I amfearfull of it with any rabbit ,.

Good idea. It would be less likely than him doing it himself,logistics-wise, but theoretically possible. And yes, that would betypical of her!!

I'll check out the armpits too, although I didn't specifically noticeanything last time I check. Yeah, the freckles made me chuckle too.Who'd have thought??? Learn something new every day!:)

mystery solved. But the motive is still baffling me!

Sometimes those ol' gut feelings are dead on--Fenwick IS pulling hisown fur out on his flanks, so no amount of flea powder will clear upthese bald spots. I was wondering why it had no effect!

This morning while shoveling under the cages I found little fluffybite-size clumps of Fenwick hair, where only he could drop it.

Now, question is: how do I stop him??

What a Stinker heis , hmmmmmm how to stop the habit, apple bitters might work ,hot sauce might work , alldepends on his likes and dislikes,. Straightjacket his teeth is also an option lol, seriously Im not sure , but i thinki would try htebitters first and see if thatwill help

Maybe he was trying to show off his pretty freckles , !!!!!!

Actually, I thought of the nasty stuff, but asnaturestee also noticed, I am somewhat afraid he won't keep himselfclean if it gets in his little head that it tastes bad to wash. What Ifigure is, if the skin looks healthy, I'll just keep a close eye onhim. Will have to figure out something before winter if it doesn't stopby then, though. An E-collar won't work, because he's outside in hishutch and that wouldn't be safe.

What little weirdos I have!:p

What about putting something that he can rip upin his cage like cardboard or some toliet paper tubes filled withhay? Sounds like he likes to rip stuff.

How is he doing now, Rose?

I completely understand your reluctance. It's been noted thatrabbits with blue genes can be sensitive to medications.Ernestine is a blue dutch.

Rose, did this just start? Can you figure out anything that might be stressing him?

I've been watching him for about 2 or 3 weeks.Powder had no effect, so I started checking other things. He ispulling, for sure. I'm still finding little clumps he pulls off. He'sjust kind of obsessive in general...might try Jenniblu's idea of stuffto rip!! I'll wager he's just plain bored, poor boy.Rose
