I All, haven't been around for a bit (sorry:shameon me!) Doc Wilbur is really good, love him to pieces. But I have a question, the last 2 nights he has been foot thumping at 2am, What is he trying to tell me??? I have to get up and take some medication at that time, does he hear me and think it's time for up? I get his female friend in a month is he lonely or am I going to have 2 rabbits telling me to get up and take my medication?:roflmao: I ignore him of course but I was wondering if some one could reassure me that he's not scared or cold (winter is here now and his room is getting cold) any clues???

Thumping can be a warning sign so it's quite possible that he hears noises in the dark of night and thinks something's up. Maybe try walking by his cage so he knows it is you or adding a nightlight so he can see you better.

I noticed that my buns will thump if I get up during the night. I am assuming that it's either because it is not a usual thing for me to get up so they are startled by not being used to it or that in the dark maybe they don't recognize me as quickly as in the light. A night light might help if maybe that's why your bun is thumping.

We leave our dining room light on but dim it so it's still somewhat dark.

Thankyou both for replying to my question. I have purchased a small night light for him so hoping this will help. doesn't really bother me but I was concerned if he was scared or cold, but I agree my movements at 2am are probably what's upsetting him.
Thanks again for the advice

Think of it like when one of my roommates comes in the front door late at night, my roommate's dog hears the door open and barks at the intruder because she's not used to anyone coming in the house after she's gone to bed. For your rabbit it's similar, someone is up and wandering around after bedtime so he needs to alert everyone to the potential danger!

Love this, even though I have 2 VERY large dogs the thought of having a 'Guard Rabbit' tickles my funny bone and will be using this in his introductions from now on. :clapping:
