Someone has been calling my cell phone for the last 2-3 days - from a "private caller" listing. They called a couple of times late last night - 5 times tonight within a 25 minute time period.

They aren't obscene...they're just incredibly stupid....I answer my phone like this..

"Good evening...this is Peggy" and they're like "hello.." or "who is this?" or just mumbling "huh" and "eh" and "uh.." all the time.

I called t-mobile and they can't block the number because it is a "private caller". They offered to change my number for me - but I work with a number of various companies and would have to change my number with so many people...which would be a pain in the rear.

Art says for me to just not answer (he answered it once and they did the same thing to him).

I've thought about getting a whistle and blowing it - a really shrill harsh one. However, I'm wondering if that would simply encourage them to keep it up since they'd know its irritating me.

Any suggestions besides just not answering the phone when it says "private caller"?

Could be a telemarkter. I screen my calls. *69 them back if possible.
Oh .. I doubt it. Last night they called around 11 pm and again around 1 am....(we were playing computer games till about 4 am this morning so I was up anyway..).

I like the fax machine idea - I may leave that window open whenever I'm here at my desk and use that...I don't have anything to record it into right now..

That's happened to me a few times, people have nothing better to do, I used to just hang up, there is a way on some phones where you can block ALL private numbers.

Oh, that's true. My mother-in-law has that and you have to give your name and wait to be connected. I don't think you can do it with a cell phone, though.

Cant you block any private calls or blocked calls. I know on a house phone you block any private numbers so that they hear a recording that you donot accept phone calls from blocked numbers t hat they need to call back after unblocking the call.

I love the air horn idea, lol

You can buy small personal use air-horns.

My Grandma used one once when she was getting pranks.

Fax is annoying, yes (but will they call back again and again hoping to not get the "fax"?)- I say blow their eardrums!

Because I'm nice like that.

I would just say get something obnoxious and play it into the phone. The airhorn is the best idea! (You just might scare the heck out of the buns!)

You could get a voicemail service like Youmail.com that will ditch unknown callers and even given them a rude message, give your husband a different voicemail then your business clients than your family members. it's free too!

good luck!

We've got one of these callers too, a private number one, who rings the landline almost every day. Sometimes they hang up, sometimes I hear their TV in the background, but it's very creepy.

Because just about everyone we know is a private caller now days it's getting to the point where everyone is annoyed at me because I never answer the phone.

If it's important, they will leave a message on the answering machine, because I am not going to put my bunnies down to answer the phone. :hbunnysmell:
