Hi,
My babies bunnies are about 20 days old now, when do they start eating pellets? They have nibbled on pellets, hay, grass, and dried leaves for awhile but never actually eating a lot. They still nurse from Lily a lot, so when will they start eating solid food, and when can I give them veggies? Is there a certain way to wean them?
Also, if anyone can tell me how to put pictures on these posts I'm writing, that would be great, because i'd love to post pics of the babies!!
:D

They should not have any veggies until 6 months of age. I forget what age they start to really eat pelits. You could try to sprinkle some uncooked old fashoned oatmeal on the food. That has always been a favorite of all of my bunnies. I ween when the babies are 6-8 weeks old. After I remove the babies from mom I leave them all in a cage together for 1 week. I then seporate the males from females and leave them like that for a week. Then they are ready for their new homes. I think that it makes for less stressed out babies.

We've found that most of the time the does will wean the babies themselves, but sometimes they need a little help. At 3 weeks they should be eating some pellets and hay, while still nursing. As they get a little older, mom will start pushing them away from her andthey'll start eating more hay and pellets.

Thank you! I heard different stories about separating the males from the female babies, but it makes sense, however, if I only have 1 female, (which I suspect we do), then do I still separate her from the other 3?

I would separate her, she'll end up pregnant

Good luck! :)
