Feeding fish

OMG! A Word to the wives. Do not feed your husbands Oscars left over pizza crust. Apparently it will kill them. Not only will it kill them but they will also die a most horrible and torturous death.

However, ours seem to be just fine.

Oh it will! It will. They can only eat really expensive cichlid food that the husband insists on leaving out and the dog obliges in eating!

Nice to know I'm not the only one who's non-fish pets try to eat the cichlid pellets! I've had to keep mine in a plastic bottle because my cats would attack the packet and eat my oscar's pellets.

Yeah, Dogs love fish food. I had my little Barkley eat a whole new 500ml container of New Life Spectrum pellets that I accidentally left open on the bottom of my fish rack. I had just spent 25$! on the dang thing. That quickly taught me a lesson about putting lids back on or keeping them on the rack.

My husband went through two things of cichlid gold and algea wafers in one week. He thought he was going to buy some more but mama put her foot down. The fear of his fish starving to death was enough to remind him to put up the food.

How big are your oscars? My husband has an albino, and a tiger. He's hunting after a red oscar and some other assorted cichlids. I'm fixing to leave for nine months. They're be tanks everywhere I'm sure.

One of my roommates had a little white poodle mix that loved fish food. After he was adopted (yay!) he came back for a weekend and she pet-sat him while his family went out of town and while she was in the shower he got into yet another new container of fish food.

I have a lutino red who's probably 10 inches long with the not so original name of "Boscar", I've had him since October 2009 when I got him as a 2 inch baby. I did have a lutino tiger and a regular tiger but they passed away when they were younger, spoilt fish has a 6x2x2ft tank to himself

awesome! I can't wait till hubbys get thay big. He's only had his about four months now. They're maybe 6-7 inches. Blackie and Ralph. The black one PMS-es alot so most of the time he has no color. I didn't realize fish could have so much personality. I told Hubby he needed to find a hobby. It kind of back fired on me. But on the bright side I get to pick out fish and dont have to take care of them!

Taking care of fish is fun. Yes fish do have a lot of personality. I don't have oscars, I do have clown loaches and I love them. Dogs aren't the only ones that love fish food, cats love it too. I got some plecocaine (fish food) and when I opened it, my cats went nuts and tried to eat it. So I have to keep it in the box away from where they can get to it.
