Well you guys I'm not sure if I can convince myparents to order Oxbow online. They might consider it if anyone herehas and can provide a testimony of it.

But I was searching and foundTimothybased Kaytee pelletsavailable in local stores.

Check out the information and tell me what you think.

I think it looks pretty good..... protein is low, and so is calcium..... let some of the pro's give you final word......

That's what I thought but I wasn't sure.

I could also mix it half and half with my alfalfa pellets then they getwhat they need but the 2 should level eachother out, shouldn't they?

if you havent seen it yet, martin brand sells atimothy pellet. not sure what the expert opinion on that brand is:) only timothy pellet i can find here!

most people look at the pet stores and figure thats all they can get...

your best bet would be going to a local feed store, ,,,they usuallyhave a better selection there and they are usually more willing toorder in what you want instead of "we dont carry that"

I feed Martins and Harley LOVES it

The feed store here only carries ONE brand of feed and it's not verygood. That's why I want to get timothy pellets but my parents will notlet me order online to get the Oxbow stuff.

Do you have a Tractor Supply or any kind of farmstore around you? If so they have feed for rabbits. In my tactor supplyits in with the chicken feed etc. They have 10 lb and 20 lb bags offeed along with 50 lbs. ;)Just another thought.....

The only stores we have around here are petstores and what you might call ahalf afarm store, lol. It carries more than feed but what feed it does carry is the samebrand for rabbits. Essentially there is only 3 brands I can get here --Kaytee, Hartz, and Unifeed.

I was just recently researching the different feeds.

It wasn't until then that I realized that almost all commercial pelletsare alfalfa based. Why is that? I would think that most would betimothy based for adult rabbits.

I knew that Oxbow carried timothy based pellets, but I didn't know theKayTee made it, too. I'll have to see if I can locate a store thatsells it. The only stores that come up with the KayTeelocatorare in NY and are a little to far to drive.

I use Purina Complete and buy it in either 25 or 50 lb bags. I imaginethere will be a cost difference since the KayTee only comes in 5 or 10lb bags.

Er... they only sell hay. I'm looking at pellets.

And all their stores are in Ontario and being 17 I can't exactly callor order online. The only way I can get something like that is througha local store here.

The timothy based pellets are an excellent choicefor pet rabbits, especially older ones. Most commerciallyavailable rabbit pellets are formulated for show and production rabbitsand are too high in fats and minerals for indoor pet rabbits.

Thanks Pam,

I was able to find a store that sells Oxbow timothy pellets. It's about 20-30 minutes drive, but I do that for WoodyPet.

I've read that as bunnies get to be seniors it's ok to add some alfalfabase feed to help if they have problems retaining weight. That seems tomake sense.
