We bought 2 Netherland Dwarfs in January from a small breeder. One a show rabbit for my daughter for 4-H is a Black/Silver Marten. Yesterday I noticed a VERY slight color differenct in front of his ears a small spot but it looks almost dark brown. I looked again today hoping my ears were playing tricks on me but I don't think they were. Would this be considered a fault and if so would he even be worth showing at our local fair?

Thanks in advance!

Jennifer

Is the rabbit kept out side or by a window where the sun comes in the cage? Black rabbits tend to get a brown color when hit by the sun. It is a falt if there is alot of it but a small spot wont be too bad. Always worth bring to the show.

The rabbit could be going into a molt, sometimes color changes happen then too. Considering how old he is, now sounds about the right age for a molt. :)

I'm the breeder you bought the bunnies from, and I am glad you have found this forum! It is a really great place with lots of helpful people. :)

Thanks ya'll it is a very small spot. Lela I was going to ask you but I know how busy you are with school, shows and rabbits I figured I would ask here first!!

A couple of my bucks pee on their selfs and get brown spots, I have one black 6 month old buck and he is 60% brown from peeing on himself so much! Hes just gross! lol
