Anyone had experience with Farmer Dave's hay? I've been trying to find a fresh source of hay my bun would eat, since he doesn't seem to like the store-bought kind, not even Oxbow. I tried looking for local options but I live in an apt. and can't really store huge bales.

Any reviews would be appreciated!

It sounds like he knows what he is talking about. I've never used that brand before, though. Perhaps you could call local feed stores and see if they will sell you a flake or a bale of hay? Or you could try a horse stable. They might be willing to sell you a flake of hay for a few bucks since they buy so much for their horses. Usual price seems to be $5-8 per bale. You could fill a garbage bag with hay for $3-4 and keep it in a rubermaid container. Just make sure to drill holes for airflow so it doesn't get damp.

I have heard from other forum member that Farmer Dave has excellent hay, however,I thought that there was a property issue on Dave's farm and I am not sure if this is going to affect production. Why don't you e-mail him from his website.

Thanks for the replies! I've tried a local feed store for bunny hay but they only offered 60 lbs bales, and didn't seem willing to break them up. Unfortunately I don't own a pick-up truck or have the space to store the bale. I just posted a local listing on Craigslist today though, so hopefully I'll have some luck with that.

Any idea where I could go to find a local horse stable? I do most of my bunny product research online, but so far my searches have come up short.

If the Oxbow runs low, I might just try Farmer Dave's for a while.

I've used Farmer Dave's before and was happy with the quality. Another great alternative is Kleenmama's. Their 2nd and 3rd cuts rock! They have the best customer service too.

Thanks for the link. Hey! I noticed Gainesville Rabbit Rescue in your signature. Are you in the Gainesville area? My friend fostered a rabbit from that rescue group last year, but the bun got adopted after a few weeks. That's when I got the idea to bring my bun from my parents home to Gainesville.

I am actually in Ormond Beach. A friend and I run the Daytona Beach chapter. I answered your PM.
