I've recently decided (and earned enough money) to upgrade my bunny from a cage to an exercise pen. I try to let him out every night but I work a lot and sometimes crazy hours and when I get off at midnight I'm too exhausted to stay up with him while he plays, or he chews through my laptop cord and I have to put him away because I'm so frustrated. My bedroom is carpeted and he is a chewer and a digger. I had to block off any way too get under my bed because he started a bunny project and pulled up a section of carpet, piece by piece (which is unfortunately blocked off by cardboard and he has made it his life mission to get back under the bed). I know from previously living with hardwood floors that he hatessssss slick floors. I would love some suggestions on flooring for my x-pen for my digging, chewing, slick floor hating, sometimes quite annoying but always extremely adorable bunny.
:bunny18:
Thankyou!

There are some linoleum floorings available now that are not slick. In fact they feel rough if you slide your hand across. I saw them at home depot or lowes hanging on those display racks (like the ones used to show posters). Some have a wood plank look and others have a stone look. But they are NOT slick.

You have to look through (and feel) the different ones they have. There are just a few that are noticeably rough to touch.

Maybe you could get that for flooring -- you just have to be extra sure that the edges are beyond the x-pen so he can't get to the edges and start chewing.

I don't know why but I always assumed linoleum tiles were like super slick (like what's used in bathrooms). But I think stick on tiles over plywood should work. Definitely making sure the edges are outside of the pen, and finding something to cover the edges. I'm gonna set it up mostly under my desk since I have a small room, but I know it'll stick out some, and I don't wanna wake up in the middle of the night and stub my toe on plywood >.<
Thank you so much!

There are many types of linoleum out there. I used a very rough lino, it's not slippery at all so something like that should be suitable for you:)
It's still easy to wipe clean and it comes in many nice patterns that look like tile. It's better than peel and stick because it's just one solid piece so the bunny can't gnaw up a corner.

I think the roll linoleum would be a better choice since it is all one piece. Otherwise, as Beverly said, bunny could get those corners where the tiles meet and pull them up.

There is very slippery lino for sure. That used to be the only kind. But now there are types that are quite rough -- almost a sandpaper feel.

As mentioned already the non slip linoleum is awesome. I have the "hardwood" kind from Home Depot that came in a roll. I also bought a rug for 10 bucks there with super short threads because my rabbit also digs and chews on carpet. So far so good ImageUploadedByRabbit Forum1389140913.303521.jpg

The large zebra pillow was only there because I was laying down... But he did have fun hopping over it!

Thanks! He has a large cage downstairs but can't free roam because of the dogs so around 8:30pm I take him up to my room and put him in the xpen to run until the morning.
