I was calling around to vets today in my areabecause Stitch is close to the age of being spayed my hubby comes homefrom work and asked what I was doing.

I told him I was calling Vets to price around and see how much it costfor her to get spayed and BTW here in the area where I live the lowestprice I found was $205 anyway He said "why?" I said umm we aren't gonnamate her and so may as well get her fixed so she will have a morecalmness about her

he said "why aren't we mating her?"

I said umm I dint think you wanted another bunny let alone a litter of bunnies

he said "I wouldn't mind having a litter of bunnies or finding her a mate"

I was SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Excited and had to tell all you guys too see he is a big softy!

whooaaaa, tell my mom to say that! Dad's more easygoing about the critters.

Seriously, if you breed, crosses are soooo much harder to find homesfor, so go for the purebred mate. And promote, promote, promote beforethe birth!!! ;)

But I've heard it's reallybest if both are altered and livetogether all the time. Because it won't end at just one litter if theylive together and aren't altered, and if they can't live together theyaren't much company for each other anyway....wow, if you followed thatsentence you're doing better thanme....:p

If I had an indoor male, I would DEFINITELY have him altered! Couldn'tstand everything in the house getting sprayed all the time.

Hey, anyone, what would happen if you had an altered male living with an unaltered female??? Anyone tried it?

Rose

P.S. my bunnies are outdoor, unaltered, and live in separate hutches. Ido raise the occasional purebred litter and have been able to findhomes for all the babies.

Believe it or not I did follow that!

I haven't even thought about my Stitch having babies that was thefurthest thing from my mind I was lookin to have her spayed even thoshe has no mate but I heard that spayed bunnies have a more relaxedattitude.

I was just shocked he said that.

As adorable as a litter of bunnieswould be, it's irresponsible to bring more animals into a worldwhere there are already too many.

O i wish i could do that. My parents were finewhen I told them I was going to mate my two bunnies, Molly andSabastion *Both Dwarf mixes* and I was so excited!! So i know somewhathow you feel....I dont necessarily know what its like to hear it from ahusband lol...but from your parents it sounds good too! lol I know I'dbe able to mate my rabbits again, but I also know that I wouldnt beable to part with them, my frist litter was only a litter of 3...thankfully it wasnt any bigger...becuase I ended up keeping allthree...unfortuanly one died a couple weeks ago, so now I only have twoof them. But I know If i mated my bunnies again, i'd never be able topart with them! I am so happy to hear that your husband said that! Itsso awsome! well Good luck!

Thanks Amanda I did read that on ur webpage aboutyour baby Keira I thinks her name was? I maybe spelling it wrong. Imsorry about ur bunny loss I know that was a hard thing the other babiesare fine tho yes?
