Shes a 3 year old mini lop.
I've been noticing for the last few days that my bun has been making excess cecals and not eating them.
I let her out to run last night and even though she is litter trained (still in beginning stages) she still poops on the floor. Which doesn't bother me, sweep it up and be on your way.
I saw last night that the poops on the floor weren't the hard dry poops like normal, they looked and smelled like cecals. And I've noticed them in her cage more and more in the last week or so. Stuck to the floor of the cage and not in the litter box when all the other poop is in the litter box.

I don't measure out her pellets, she just eats whenever and she doesn't seem to over eat. She gets constant hay access and she gets a salad every night. Not much fruit. She may get a grape here and there or a bit of banana but not a lot.
Should I measure out her pellets? If so, how much should she get? I want to say she weighs like 6lbs.
Is it normal for her to overproduce cecals like that?

I should add, that I just ordered a sample bag of Sherwood Forest food. In the testimonials on the site it said that it helped with cecal production.

Thanks so much!

I'd give measuring pellets a try, I've heard that too pellet-rich a diet can cause them not to eat all their cecals.

That makes sense. I'll try measuring them out. Hopefully the Sherwood Forest will help to, because its supposed to be such a great food. The food that I feed her, is pretty good I think. Not that I remember what its called, since it put it in a container and throw away the bag! hahaha. The Sherwood should be here tomorrow, hopefully.

I've been finding less cecals now that mine are switched to sherwood forest, though I'm not sure if its the food or Gaz just growing out of her tendency to leave them behind (which is common with babies).

You might want to cut back on the salad & see if that helps.

But a uneaten cecal every once in awhile probably isn't a problem. Just a bother for you.
