I was playing my Final Fantasy XIII game last night around 11. I attempted to turn it off at midnight but I often forget that after I select system shut off, I have to select "yes" to confirm. Until I hit yes, the console remains powered on.

I have the original PS3, big clunky, HOT burning box of metal. I closed the entertainment unit thinking nothing of it... This morning I woke up at 6am just to check on Toby since I let my tiny bun out to roam the apt at night. I heard the unmistakeable whirring noise all the way in my bedroom. I left the thing running for 6 hrs.... :(

I turned it off immediately but then feared the thing would never turn back on once it had a chance to cool off (sometimes with electronics while it is still going downhill, it still works. Give it a chance to fry and cool, though, and it's forever busted...) I have a Final fantasy save file I spent 90 hours on.... I tossed and turned. Finally had to get up and get my flash drive and back up my save file. Thankfully, my PS3 still turns on but the fan was still whirring at top speed. Now I can't fall back asleep. LOL

anyone else ever lose sleep over something as insignificant? Or am I just a loser? :p

You sound like my husband he has the original xbox 360 and He got the ring of fire. Luckily he had the extended warranty and got a new one but he was so mad.

He would live on those video games if I let him. Oh I still have not got to play FF 13.

We have had it sense the day it came out.

Kat, I reserved the game and got it on release day too :) You can beat it at 50 hrs but the last boss will be....hard. I prob spent more like 60 hrs but ten didn't count on clock because I repeatedly died. I beat it, took me about 3.5 weeks of real life time elapsed but spent another 40 hrs apparently playing the after-game which was the last month and a half. I didn't realize I spent so much time on it til I looked at the save clocked time yesterday... 90 hrs... Not counting all the hrs I spent dying :( Yeah, don't start unless you have time to dedicate to it!!! LOL

Autumn, I wish the cooler would fit but the ps3 juuust snugly fits on the shelf of my entertainment unit. It is fine operating for hours on end (obviously I know this from playing so many hrs of FF lol!) but I HAVE to leave the drawer it is on wide open. Then it stays nice and cooly ventilated. My mistake was closing the drawer last night :(
