Yayyy! Elf finallyhas a nifty cage too! She's absolutely thrilled going up an down theramp and onto different levels. It's right next to my desk, so she getstons of attention. Now I just need to build the ramp down to the floor(she's up on a table, out of puppy-reach...well, for now) so she canhop up and down into the cage to her heart's delight.:DThanks for all of the good ideas, guys. Elf is a muchhappier bun because of all of you!

(pictures to come soon--not that it looks much different from all the others :p)

Hmmm, let's see....

The wire squares were on sale at Target for $10 a box, and I used two whole boxes.

The zip ties were about $3 for a package of 100, and we used 2 packages.

The board was $18, they cut it for me at Home Depot, and I still have left overs to make my ramp.

The dowel rods were something like 75 cents a piece. We got 14 of them.

The carpeting was a roll of outdoor stuff. Itcost $14 and I have tons left to rip up and replace as we go.

The clippies were $1.50 for a package of 2 and weused 4 of them. (Although we're still debating what we will really use, they're working for now.

So, all in all it wasn't a super cheap cage, buther happiness is sure worth it. And it's bigger and nicer than manycages I've seen in stores.

Besides, nothing can beat the "WOAAAAAH" you get out of people when they walk in and see it. ;)

Lucky Elf!! That looks fantastic! I'd have three! One for Hazel, One for vitani and kiara and one for the new chinchillas! :p

Much better than one you would buy from a shop, you'd be waiting along time for one so good!

Elf Mommy, were there holes drilled inthe floor of the cage for the dowels to fit in? I was justwondering because I would love to have something like this for my 2 butmy buns are big 8 and 9 pounds. They would need somethingsturdy. I had looked at the cubes before but they did notseem sturdy enough for the bigger buns. I think allin all, for the size of the cage you have the price was not overlyexpensive. The dowels were a good idea. Ms. Elfseems to be enjoying her new home! Does she seem to enjoygoing up and down the ramp? In a cage this big, they can getsome exercise by just moving around in it. Thanks forsharing Beckie

Hubby attached all of the dowels to theoutside of the cage. She can't chew them that way. The floor (1/4"plywood) fits inside the bottom of the cage (I did put wire frames onthe bottom as well), so the dowels couldn't be put into the bottom. Thefloor, the shelves, and the ramp got holes put in them and zip tieddown to the shelving wire so they wouldn't move when Elf jumped onthem. She is a large rabbit as well (although the cage makes her seemsmall now, LOL), so we were extra careful to zip tie excessively andreinforce everything (Thus the hundreds of zip ties we went through).Hubby also reinforced the ramp with another dowel rod, just in case.

She does seem to enjoy hopping up downand all around her new cage. It all must seem like one huge toy to her.She flopped on the top level last night, but usually prefers to sleepon the bottom. I'm going to work on getting some long hanging toys forher to play with from the second level. I made the ramp because Iworried about her being able to jump up and across from the first levelup. A couple years from now, I may remove the ramp and make a platformabout half way between the two levels along the entire back of thecage. The possibilities are endless with the wire racks. I just loveit!

I just want to takea moment to say that I have never seen Elf so happy in her entire life. She is hopping all over, binkying, telescoping to her heart'scontent... I put her box inside and she keeps moving it around todifferent places. She's one super happy bunny. I never would havethought of making a cage like this if I hadn't been a member of thisboard. Thank you everyone!

Great cage, I just finished ours last night /this morning. I like the dowel on the door. That's a good idea. I needto go get some of that out door carpet too, where did you get it? Whatkind of base did you use for it? I made my shelves out of closet maidshelving, I bought one 6 foot peice and cut it into two different sizesand made it solid by zip tying on some coroplast. I had a favorite pic.but I don't remember the caption, it was a pic of her face and there'ssomething blurry right at the left edge, she looks so elegant.

Great job!
