Eeyore is a grumpy mini lop who looks a lot like Pooh's donkey friend. He's Parker's best friend in the world. They rub noses and kiss through the pen, even though they aren't bonded. Eeyore currently has sore hocks on his feet because I didn't know that a thin piece of linoleum with a sheet on top in his pen would hurt him. Now we're fixing the set-up (linoleum is gone) and he's going to see the vet on Wednesday.

Parker is a dutch/silver martin mix, I think. He has gorgeous markings and some day I'll manage to get his photo up here.

The apt is mayhem right now, because we have foster bunny Mickey who isn't neutered (yet). He and Parker are having a contest of who can poop most in a particular corner, and there's been some spraying and whatnot. And then they're all upset when I turn on the vacuum to clean it up. Parker doesn't much care for Mickey, but Mickey doesn't seem to notice Parker charging at him from inside his pen. Mickey is very friendly to both Parker and Eeyore and would probably bond well with another bun.

I took a cage and made a NIC extension for it for Mickey -- he seems to enjoy his digs, though he loves running around the room (and adding to the poop corner).

i love grumpy bunnies! mine seem like total grumps often too. and they poop wherever they're not supposed to. (shrug) it's a bunny slave's life!

i'm surprised the linoleum was bad for his feet too...

oh and we want pics!!:biggrin2:

I didnt know about the linoleum thing, i wonder if the coroplast is ok for thier feet?

We cant wait for pics.............. well we pretty much demand pics, lol

I'd love to see pics of Eeyore (chuckles), Parker and Mickey:).

How'd the vet appt. go? About Eeyore's sore hocks? Has he always been with you or could he have gotten them from before you and now they're irritated?

(I adopted a Mini Rex from anHRS and she had had a hock before and I didn't know:?. Just noticed when it became irritated once again. Sometimes that happens too, and it's not your fault, either;).

Eeyore's the bun on my avatar. I can't seem to get pictures into the blog thingy. I'm sooo not tech savvy.

It's possible he had them from before. He's loathe to let me pick him up, so I don't do it often. Only when I insisted on a hug last week did I notice them.

Vet appt is today. Wish us luck. It will be my first time trying out a pet insurance claim. Wish me luck on that one too.

Does anyone have experience with a rabbit who always turns food bowls upside down? What can I do to make it stop? I got the metal kind that attaches to the side of the pen, even, and he pulls it out of the loop and throws it across the cage. This is Mickey. I'm hoping that his neuter on the 21st will calm his crazy cottontail down a tad. Actually, Eeyore does it too sometimes, and sometimes dumps out his litterbox. Argh, in addition to poop, there's now pellets ALL over my apt.

How did the vet appt go? Ive found silvadine works really well for sore hocks. The insurance claim is pretty easy. Plus you can fax it so it gets there asap. I love VPI :)

As for the bowl, have you tried the plastic kind that clip to the pen (they sort of screw in). We use that for Biggie Max who turns all his bowls over.

Oh and to post photos you have to use a hosting site like www.photobucket.com You upload your photos and copy/paste the IMG line here. Its great because it automatically creates a backup in case your computer crashes- your photos will still be online. :)

my vet said the sore hocks were actually not too bad and to just monitor them for awhile. they've improved slightly.

Thats great news! If they arent infected sometimes putting a little Bag Balm on them can help. My Basil has hocks even though he only lives on carpet and that works well for him.
