Hi, I started growing a few herbs that I know are edible for bunnies. But I was curious about flowers. I came across a bunny site that sold dried flower petals, calendula, lavender, and rose petals. By the ounce, I thought it was a bit pricey after you consider the shipping cost. I want to plant my own edible flowers to save some money.

Could someone, maybe a MOD, reply or PM me with a list of edible flowers?

Thanks a bunch! :biggrin2:

I picked up a couple packs of maragolds at the garden center and happened to mention they were "bunny snacks" as I checked out. The cashier asked about the comment and I explained I was growing them so I could feed the flowers to my rabbits because they love them so much. The person was shocked! Apparently there is a silly myth that you plant maragolds to keep bunnies OUT of the garden! LOL The only way that would work is if they filled up on the maragolds on the way in!

Just to clarify...
Marigold and pot Marigolds (calendulas) are 2 different species.
Buns will eat pot marigolds.

The true marigold is toxic.
:)
I hope this isnt a stupid question, but how do I tell the difference? I hope to be making a trip to the garden center next weekend.

Corn isn't good for them to eat as in corn based foods, etc but a lot of the toys sold at petsmart etc are made out of corn husk/silk - is that bad for them? I only have the timothy hay or wood based toys, but the largest/most expensive of the toys are corn husk ($18 for a small chew hut seemed way too pricey for me anyway).

The corn husk (leaves) are edible.
Just to be safe we dry ours out...it makes for a nice change during the winter months!
A different flavor of fiber!

Marigolds are supposed to keep cats out of the garden btw!
Haven't heard about it working on rabbits.

Danielle :)
