Good Sunday to everyone!

Today is 28 for Ebony ( Holland Lop). We're hoping she's pregnant. We tried palpating her 2 weeks ago and since we are still very much beginners at that we couldn't tell a thing. But then we couldn't tell last time either and she had three! The box is in and she's digging away. Her ears are too long but we bred with a buck with short ones trying for the correct length. She's the black oneon the Avatar. Smudge (also on the Avatar) is from her first litter. One quick question...

She's in her hutch outside under patio cover. Temps are in the 80's this week. We have a 6"electric fan we hooked onto her cage and turn iton at noon. She has lots of fresh water. Would you keep turning the fan on after she kindles? The fan does not blow into the box but it is right next to it. She loves it and lays right in the path of the wind.

Here's to keeping our fingers crossed!

I would keep the fan on just not on the babies. My fingers are crossed for her and you to have some new happy healthy babies. :goodluck

Good luck and I hope she has a nice healthy litter!

It is pretty hard to palpate. I'm the one who palpates my does, and I find that some does are easier to palpate. Although, when Sage was pregnant and I palpated her, at first it was hard to feel anything, then I felt babies. I said "There's about 6 in there" Just making a guess...and guess what she had 6! lol. Anyway, you'll get better at palpating the more you do it.

good luck! I'm ready to give up on my holland does, I can't get a live litter from any of them(Well ones a junior so she's not even old enough yet) Skye murders hers when she feels like it she'll raise them, Angie just needs to produce a live litter and Calleigh I don't breed often because she's my show doe.

I turn on our fans as soon as it gets to 85 degrees... you are smart not to let it blow on her or the babies... but if it gets very warm out while the babies are still in the nest box, keep an eye on them that she doesn't put too much fur over them. If it gets really hot during the first 2 weeks, I might pull the nestbox and bring it inside during the day. (I've seem Moms bury them under fur and they die because it gets too warm.)

Well, I guess it wasn't for real... no babies. Today is day 33. I'll keep the box in a few more days.:sigh:

Ok...how old does the buck need to be to breed? 8weeks? We only have her son (Smudge) from her first litter. I think we 'd be line breeding. Am I right? He is 10 weeeks old. We originally bred her to the sire of Smudge. And shouldn't I put her in with him not him in with her?

Thanks for your help!
