Maybe I am so used to my little dwarf chewsters, but Sheriff my English Lop seems to eat a ton!

I have had him since Jan 2nd, and he is almost 14 weeks old. Since I have had him, he has probably doubled, almsost tripled in size, which is totally fine with me! I want a really large rabbit!

He doesn't seem to be overweight, but he eats sooo much and drinks soo much water.

I fill his bowl that is probably almost 2 cups of food..and sometimes it will be gone in 1 day, and is definatley gone in a day and a half.

He eats probably quadruple the amount of hay my lionhead does..a really HUGE handful everyday

I have been introducing greens, and he will eat it ALL. I had some romaine that wasn't going to last too much longer (Don't worry it wasn't rotten) and I split it in half..so he had about 6 large leafs to eat..and he ate them all including the "base" of the romaine. I meant just devoured it. Chew had about 3 that took her the whole night to eat!

Then he drinks TONS of water..it seems that is all he does, lol. I can't really gauge how much, but it is alot.

He is active bun with lots of free time though.

Is this normal? Should I start only giving him 2/3 of a cup of pellets? I don't want him to become overweight.

there is no mention of hay.ie nondigestible fiber--timothy/orchard grasses,..all i-see isa diet ofdigestible fiber/vegys,pellets.??--the diet needs to be 70%-hay,,or the rabbits health will be in peril..sincerely james waller:rose:

Yes there is :)

I give unlimited hay. thats about how much he actually eats.

Well, eating a lot of hay can only be a good thing!

My 4lb pound bun will eat 4-5 leaves of romaine twice a day, so I wouldn't worry about how the quantity of veggies he eats.

And he's still very young, so I wouldn't cut back his pellets - he really needs them to grow.

It all sounds fine to me!

maybe give him some alfalfa too as he is growing and alfalfa is a good source of calcium that he needs now but won't need once he is grown. All of our bunnies are given an unlimited amount of hay since they are all adults and a measured amount of pellets daily. Plus, we give them vegetable twice a day depending on their size = amount.
