I took in a female rabbit who is about 4-6 months old. Her nipples are very known you can feel them on her belly. Shes gaining weight but than again, she eating for once. Her poo when i got her was smaller than my baby rats poo.. close to a mouse size. now it is back to regular size and has soon no sign of having any problems. What am i looking for? If she is ... what do i do??

A mod will most likely move this to the Rabbitry section for you, since more breeders will be able to help you and such, but until then:

With the little information on her symptoms you gave, it just sounds like she's becoming a bigger bunny. It is possible she may have had a past litter, and still has milk? Or, she could be pregnant, i dunno. We'll see what everyone else has to say.

Where at did you get her? A petshop? An animal shelter? If it was an animal shelter, then she most likely isn't pregnant, since she should be spayed, but there could be a slim chance. Hope this helps!

I believe the poo getting bigger is a good thing. It shows that her digestive tract is becoming healthier. Tiny poops are a sign of GI slow down, so big round poops are very, very good.

Weight gain is not the best way to tell if a rabbit is pregnant. They don't change too much in physical appearance for that to be effective. And if she was not eating very much and having small poops, it makes sense for her to gain some weight once she started eating more.

How long have you had her? Where did you get her from. Was she in a cage all by herself or was she with other rabbits?

Your best bet would be to find a vet, an experienced breeder or a rescue organization to take a look at her and palpatate for babies. Palpatating takes practice, so it's best to find someone who has done it many times before.

I work at a petsmart and a guy ask if i could take her because they didn't want her anymore.. I have my own 10 year old dutch and i have said no many times but since it is winter i didn't want to see her left in front of the door. I said i would take her in, he came with a box and all i got out of him was that they had her for 4 months. She was not the size of a 4 month old rabbit, the only reason i knew her food was because he had it his hands when he was asking me about her. When i first got her i checked her over, the only problem was her nails were sickly long and her poo was VERY small. Im glad to see her doing better.. but now im worried.. what did i get myself into. I just was trying to do a good thing. Im trying to feel for a baby, i talked to my aunt in Denver because shes a rabbit specialist and she told me that the nipples being large and present could either mean she has had babies or shes going to have babies.

not sure what to do now..

One thing that I seem to be missing here is....was she exposed to a buck?

A doe can have her hormones go haywire and have a false pregnancy - even pull fur, etc. So it could be something like that too.

If she starts carrying around hay in her mouth and pulling fur - then you'll want to put in something she can use as a nestbox...perhaps an empty shoe box or something....
