I've decided my little man needs his own blog, so here it is.
Dutch was adopted in November of 2007 but I have no idea how old he is. The only thing the shelter could tell me was that he was an "adult" so... I assume he is at least six years old. He was abandoned by his first parents when they moved in with a cousin and then moved out, refusing to take him with them. The cousin didn't want a rabbit so she took him to the shelter. I don't know if the shelter named him or if his original owners did but he came to me with the name of Dutch. Since he is a Dutch I felt that was a bit of a silly name and added Amadeus Maxim. He now answers to any variation of Dutch Amadeus (and the countless nicknames I come up with) and knows that when Maxim is pulled out he is in trouble.
D's favorite thing to do is chew. He will chew on paper, plastic, wood, cotton, wires. If it can fit in his mouth he will chew it. This, unfortunately, means that he has to stay in his cage most of the time because even with bunny-proofing he needs to be watched when he is loose. The boy is smart and will find his way into something if I'm not careful. This is not to say he's a bad little guy, though. When he does get let out he loves when someone scratches between his ears and grunts and nudges you if you aren't giving him enough attention. One of his favorite things to do is binky on my bed, but he will only do that when everyone is out of the room and quiet. If he even thinks someone might be watching him he stops.
Well, I think that's enough about Amadé for this evening. Here is a picture of him enjoying his freshly cleaned and reorganized cage:
