Well all here is what happened. Tuesday was our youngest son's 14th birthday. He gets to pick dinner...scalloped potatoes and ham. Now you know me I do everything from scratch. Well I was using my Pampered Chef slicer without the holder (stupid I know). And ended up taking a large chunk out of my thumb. So I ended up having to have it cauterized as they could not stitch back on what I cut off. I am in a splint for another day and am on some pretty strong meds. Lucky me. So word to the wise.....cut the potato in half so it fits in the holder and slice it...don't start it off by holding it with your hand. The results can be disasterous. Oh yah and brainiac that I am I was going to drive myself to the hospital 16 miles away. I ended up at my work and had my bosses wife drive me in. And poor Jim had to deal with the hysterical phone call of "I'm going to the ER cause I cut off part of my thumb"...my poor hubby.
