The lady I got my Belldandy from said she fed her show bunnies dried fruit and veggiesa little at a time throught the week and then once a week they got fresh. They also of course ate pellets daily and a mix of rolled oats and sunflower seeds which was every few days.

Anyone else feed their bunnies dried fruits and veggies? I'd like to get them for Belldandy.

I give my rabbits dried fruit, but only as a treat. So maybe two or three pieces out of my hand each day. I wouldn't feed alot of them. I give my rabbits veggies daily, they all get two handfuls of salad each at night. Some people choose to give their rabbits no veggies, some people feed only veggies and some people feed a mixture of both, it's up to you. :)

Dried fruit in particular can be a rabbit favourite, but because it has so much sugar in, it should only be given in limited moderation.

Are you also giving your bunny unlimited hay in addition to all you said up there?

Yeah she gets a handful at a time. I'm making her a feed box for her hay. I her cage is kind of small for what I'd like...lol. I don't want to overload her with hay so a handful out a time seems to do good. She got a handful last night and it was gone by about 4am. So I am making the feed box that will hold more then just a handful so at night she won't run out. She also gets fed at night as well as a little during the day when we are gone. About two or three pinches worth. At night she gets 1/2 cup. She is very active because during the day when we are home she is out of her cage, then at night till about 2am she is out and about.

If she is finished her hay then she needs mto be given more at one time (or more frequently), so that's great to hear about the feed box.

What size cage does she have? How old is she? And is she a minilop?

Sounds like she gets a load of out of cage time which is terrific :)

Oh and just wanted to add that that diet the breeder had her on is very fattening and since she is a pet bunny I would cut way back once she is over six months or she will be a very large bunny lol!

She is 10 weeks old, she is a mini lop. I had rats prior to having Belldandy and so I always fed them as needed. This is all still so new.

How much do you feed your bunnies a day?

Oh her cage is actually a dog kennel 24"Lx18"Wx21"H, I'd like to get a bigger cage but she really only spends about 8 to 10 hours at most in the cage mainly we let her run around.

Since her cage has two different openings we've considered getting a taller rodent type cage and connecting them so she will have a condo with guest room...lol.

Also which room do you guys keep your bunnies in when they are caged? I'm still trying to find that perfect location.

That cage size isn't really big enough, even if she is only in ut just under half the day. Is there anyway you could maybe make an NIC cage for her, or look to attaching a pen?

Mine are in my room and BOY are they loud. I'd happily have them scattered all over the house, but it's not my house, so I don't get much say anywhere other than my bedroom, lol.

I'm trying to find something bigger, the thing is the breeder had her rabbits in pens the same size ase my kennel. She said it would be alright. I took it upon myself to change the size.
