Dora was a 3 month old rabbit, who was sisters with Daisy. They both lived outside together in a cosy hutch and were let out to run daily for several hours. She was named 'Dora' as a reference to Dora the Explorer - she was the more confident and curious of the two! On 27/12/13 we brought her and Daisy home from the boarding place they were at over Xmas and I noticed she was slightly lethargic, but I put it down to tiredness and stress from staying in such a new environment. However, the next morning I went out to feed them and I noticed Dora was limping and not putting weight on her rear right leg. We took her to the emergency vet within the hour and left her for Xrays and a prognosis. It turned out to be a nasty, complicated break and the vet told us that the kindest thing to do would be to put her to sleep. I couldn't go to the vets to pick her up because I was in such a mess! RIP Dora, forever remembered.
