Ok, well today my mom, my sister and I were in Wal-Mart just shopping around. And after we put everything in the car, I was pushing the cart back to the cart thing, then I see these two workers at Wal-Mart looking into the windows of a car. I asked them what they were doing and they said that a dog was in thebaclseatand it looked dead. :(I peer into the car window and lying in the backseat is a small dog. And it didn't look like it was breathing. :tears2:I left because I started to getting teary eyed. The workers took down the plate number and left. I'm hoping that they found the owner and turned them in, because none of the windows were down and it was around 75-80 degress outside.

I dont see why people would leave their pets inside their cars with no windows down, when it's hot outside! I mean it's common sense that you don't do that. Even if you are running in the store realy quick, at least roll a window down! So I'm hoping that they found the owner and turned them in or something. Because that's a terrible thing to do to an animal!

Man, I hope people start learning and stop making mistakes that take animals lives and peoples.

Wow! How rude of those owners to do something like that! I hope they were found and that puppy was ok. Whatdid you mom and sister say when they saw you crying?

That's awful.... poor little dog... I hope it was just sleeping and not really gone....
:bigtears:

How could people do that?! It's not new, it's common sense for god's sake! They wouldn't sit in a hot car in that heat without air con or a window open at least, so why subject a poor defenceless animal to that? :grumpy:

Here in CA, it is illegal to leave pets or children in the car, even with the windows down.
If you see a pet/child in the car, you are to alert the manager of the store and if they don't do anything, then you must call the police. It takes just a few minutes for a child or pet to die in a hot car.

"Animals Left in Cars
You may not leave an animal in any unattended motor vehicle under conditions (such as heat, cold, lack of ventilation or water) that endanger the health of the animal or may be expected to cause suffering or death. State Penal Code 597.7."

MissyCove: I'm not sure if there is a law about that here in Wa, but I'll probably look into it.

Mouse_Chalk: I know! I have the same thoughts as you do! It is common sense to open a window if you have a child or animal in your car, when it's hot. I hope it was sleeping too. :(

People need to get brains now 'a days.

I am not sure if it is illegal here in AZ to leave a pet in the car alone, but last week Ryan and I got done grocery shopping and went out to our car to see a lady leave her car....with a Husky in the back hatch part....no windows down.

I didn't think to call the police, but I wrote the lady a note and left it on her windshield...basically saying to think of her dog next time she leaves him in the hot car while she grocery shops....and that I certainly hope she wouldn't leave a child in the hot car....yadda yadda yadda.

I know I should have called the cops, but it just never crossed my mind.

That is absolutely ridiculous! Why do we need to take out pets with us shopping when it hot anyway? Good Lord!

Our news always does a segment on this at the beginning of spring/summer. They have had an suv sitting in the sun and broadcast from the location while a thermometer is in the windshield to show people how quickly the temp rises. Within 10 minutes, the temp rises 10 degrees and after about 20 mins, it rises 20 degreesor more! So, if it's already 85 degrees out, that's 105 in 20 mins.

People have to be smarter than this, geez. Poor puppy.

Think you will call the Walmart and find out what happened? If the puppy was okay?:(

I TOTALLY agree. Of all the years we've had our dog Kim, when I was living at home, we never ONCE had him in the car when we went shopping! In fact, the only times he ever went in the car was for the vets, or if we were driving him to the kennels or to a different park! Dogs DON'T NEED to go shopping!! :X

That's good that you left her a note. Good job! :great:

Yes! I agree with that too! People don't need to bring there animals when it's hot outside. I mean, you not gonna be able to bring your Saint Bernard in K-Mart!!

Hmmm, I'll try to find the Wal-Mart phone number and call them. I wish I knew the workers names so I could talk to them...
