:?

I been putting carefresh on the bottom of his and a blanket inside his hut to keep him warm at nightwhich he likes to sleep in.
I put a little box in as well with yesterdays news kitty litter in it to try and train him abit. for a while it looked liked it worked. But then he started pooping in his food dish and going everywhere but the little box :?.
Im i confusing him on where to go. Or is he just rebeling.. I clean it out everyday.
One of my friends said to put his nose in his poop to show him its wrong but it seems cruel to me to do that to him.

Any advice o_O

How old is he? Young rabbits, usually under about 6 months, might have some more issues with litter training. Really young ones don't have a ton of control over when and where they pee and poop. As they get a bit older, they do get more control, but then the hormones start to kick in and they will want to mark territory.

Putting litter or absorbent bedding in the whole cage can confuse them. Rabbits generally don't like to go if they then have to sit in the pee, so will choose a spot where it gets absorbed. If they whole cage is absorbent, then they don't need to seek out a litter box. Try not used carefresh or other similar litter in the whole cage, you can use a blanket or towel for comfort if you want.
Rubbing his nose in the poop won't do anything. He's not going to understand what it means and it won't help with litter training at all.

When he poops put his poop in the litter box, they he will smell that his poop is in there and eventually start using it as a litter box. Using the carefresh all over is cage will confuse him, so you should just use that in the litter box and put some hay in there too, as bunnies like to poop and eat at the same time! :D

Sue, how big in the litter box? Maybe it's too small. And cleaning it completely every day may confuse him as well. Return a little litter to it, so he knows that's where to go.

I guess that's as much room as there is in a cage for a litter box. Honey doesn't have a cage at all, just a carrier & an xpen, which has a large cat litter box with enough room for her to stretch out in when she likes.

Once my cat gets used to him and he gets bigger and learns how to use the litter box then we will let him run around the house on his own right now with my cat wanting to play wack the rabbit I don't think its safe for him to run around unsupervised

With our bun, I put some of his poop in the litter box, also when he peed on the floor of his cage I took a small corner of paper towel which I dipped in the pee and then put thatin the litter box as well.

when I clean the litter box I put just a small amount of his mess back in it.

I hope your cat will get used to him, but I suspect that might be difficult, given her initial reaction. I suspect she could be a natural mouser, which would make it problematic, but might make her a desirable houseguest with any friends who might have mouse problems. Maybe you could rent her out, lol.

I just realized that any blankets of any kind get my angora to pee on them. I took a small hand towel that she peed on and put it inside their litter box. Until my angora is fully potty trained I will be holding off on putting any kind of blanket bedding in their pen. So I agree with everyone else on the bedding and absorbancy issue.
