My 6 and a half month old Holland Lop fuzzy rabbit, Kaira, could have been bred twice, each breeding taking place a week apart. The first breeding was an accident, because my younger brother accidentally placed Kaira in Blizzard's (5 month old, BEW Holland Lop) cage, and I didn't noticeuntil about 2 hours later, so I'm not sure if they bred or not, but I was planning on palpating 2 weeks after the incident. But unfortunately, about a week later, I opened my shed to find Kaira and Blizzard together hopping around on the floor. Turns out they found an escape root out of their cages, which is now blocked. So again, I'm not sure if she was bred.

I hear it's very life threatening for both the mother to be carrying two litters, and the kits. What should I do?

Hi, I moved this to the rabbitry where people who have more experience with pregnant bunnies/litters will see it. Most of us in the Infirmary don't have baby bunny experience.

More than likely all of the kits will die from what I've read, if she was bred more than 3 days apart. That is ifthey bred both times.I'm not sure how the doe will do. It's a guessing game

You may want to read this thread where I was worried about the same thing.

I wouldn't be worried - if she took from the first breeding there is a good chance she didn't take the second time....

It'sveryrare that this could happen - I would not be concerned about the possibility of a double pregnancy.

I had a double pregnancy in a Angora doe, I had bought her thinking she was due in a good 2-3 weeks, and she had the kits just a few days later. The younger kits weren't fully formed, and the older ones, fully formed, where dead when I found them.

I tried breeding again a while later, but she bled profusely and didn't lactate properly, so she was retired as a breeding doe.
Otherwise, she a perfectly fine. :)

Some people test breed there does to see if the doe bred, if they doe bred she would allow the buck to mount her, how was the doe around the buck on the second time?
