If you sell or adopt out your baby buns do you provide care sheets with them? What about a bag of the food they've been eating? I want to make sure the new baby bunnies get off to a good start in their new homes.

Belldandy isn't due till first week in August, just thinking ahead :)

thanks for your help.

I provide care sheets with pet rabbits, other rabbits that go to breeders I don't, I give a weeks wroth of food with every rabbit so they can be slowly weaned onto the new food.

I give care sheets to anyone I'm not convinced is an experienced breeder. My care sheet emphasizes safe/unsafe foods (I've seen too many new rabbit owners kill their rabbits within weeks by feeding them salad mix). I try to give a small bag of feeds if I can/need to, but around here, there aren't many choices for rabbit feed (maybe 3 or 4 brands, excepting the "small pet" food that I tell people never to get), and just telling them which store to get their food at is enough to make sure the rabbit's diet stays the same. If I were selling in a bigger town, I'd give at least enough food to get them switched over.

Since your babies are pets, I would definitely do a care sheet. You should emphasize what they are used to as far as food, water (bottle or bowl) and other aspects. If you are working in litter training, mention that as well as what kind of litter. For food, write down the brand and formula so they know what it is as well as providing a sample of it. If they have had any fresh food, be specific on what kinds and amounts. You basically want general care for rabbits if the people don't know much, but also the specific care the babies have recieved so they have a starting point and can keep things the same if needed. It can also be a reference point, if the babies are used to one kind of litter, but the new owners use something else, then that could be a reason why the babies won't use the litter box.

Some local contact numbers are a good idea. Find some rabbit vets in the area and put down the info (phone number, website, address), if there is one you like, say that as well. If there are some good rabbit clubs, put down that info too. Have your info as well. Other care resources like websites or this forum as also good to include.

I don't give care sheets, because I generally don't sell as pets. I will give a small bag of feed with what I sell, and thats bout it.

If I buy I ask if it has lived in AC, or outside. My rabbits are outside so suddenly going to AC to outside is NOT safe. So thats something to warn people about if your rabbits are indoors.

Thanks I didn't know that, we don't have A/C in the house so when it's hot it's hot.

I honestly want to keep them but don't think we will have the room to keep them all.
