I've come across a breeder who repeatedly uses terms like grand double mane and velvet rex in her ads.
I have only ever heard of either single or double maned lionheads and a rex coat feels velvety to me anyhow:D As googling doesn't seem to get me anywhere I was wondering if anyone could tell me do these terms exist and what do they mean?
What distinguishes a grand double mane from a double mane and a velvet rex from a rex?

In my opinion, it seems like this person may just be using the word "grand" to mean "Grand Champion". And using the word "velvet" just to describe what a rex coat type is like, just so potential uneducated buyers can get an idea as to what it is.

But that's just my guess. Otherwise, terms like these are not used (at least I haven't heard of these terms being thrown around between breeders and in show rooms) but there's always room to be wrong. So yeah, this is just my assumption :)

Hope that helps!

I agree about the rex, but "grand" in its normal use is an adjective, synonymous with "great" "superb" "awesome" so maybe she is trying to say that their double manes are very much something to be proud of.

The breeder only breeds pet quality and shows in pet class. But it says on her site that she grades her lionheads in single, double and grand double mane. As I understand it it's rather a subjective term and there is no actual distinction? I was just curious...:?
