Hi I'm new here however I came across something very disturbing. I was checking my rabbits teeth and noticed one of her lower front teeth is not aligned with the one next to it. I did a google search and came across this disturbing article below. I'm not a Facebook user but will be signing up just so I can't post a comment on it in hopes no one follows the writers advise. I implore others to do the same and email ehow so the article is removed. I'm not sure if that's possible or not. Here is part of the article I'm talking about. There are several things in this article that makes my stomach turn. However step 5 is awful as is the "tools needed"

How to Clip a Rabbit's Teeth With Malaclusion By Steve Smith, eHow Contributor

Place the clippers on one of the upper teeth, about 1/4 inch below the gum, gripping the tooth with the pliers, then squeeze shut.

Also listed under "things needed" is:

Pair of nail clippers or sharp, small wire cutters

In some cases, bunnies do need their teeth trimmed on a continuous basis. This article was put out there, I believe to help people do it. I would recommend going to a Vet first and getting instructions. It is kind of expensive if your bunny needs their teeth trimmed every month. So it's really good to know. Even if you don't feel that you can do it, it's always good to know what's going on.

Good to see more information out there. Some people can't afford to go the route of pulling rabbit teeth. You do what you can to make your bunny comfortable. If this should ever occur in my Tribe, a Vet, not an article, will definitely teach me the method of clipping. But it's truly good to read about other ways and compare with what you are advised to do.

All my Tribe, touch wood, are in good shape when it comes to teeth.

Sparky goes in every 6 weeks to have her teeth done. She not only has to have her front teeth trimmed because they are misaligned, but her back teeth need to be trimmed because she's had 7 pulled. There are some that can take care of it themselves, but no way I could do Sparky (or even want to).

Wire cutters actually work really well for your standard incisor trim. I know lots of vets that use them.
