As seen in a cat's diary:

Day 183 of my captivity... My captors continued to taunt me with bizarre
little dangling objects.

They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while I am forced to eat dry cereal. The
only thing that keeps me going is the hope of escape, and the mild
satisfaction that I get from clawing their furniture.

Tomorrow I will eat another houseplant.

Today my attempt to kill my captors by weaving around their feet while they
were walking almost succeeded - must try this at the top of the stairs.

In an attempt to disgust and repulse these vile oppressors, I once again
induced myself to vomit on their favourite chair. I must remember to try
this on their bed.

Decapitated a mouse and brought them the headless body in an attempt to make
them aware of what I am capable of, and to try to strike fear in their
hearts. They only cooed and condescended about what a good little cat I was

Hmmm, that did not work according to plan ...

There was some sort of gathering of their accomplices. I was placed in
solitary throughout the event. However, I could hear the noise and smell the
food. More important, I overheard that my confinement was due to my powers
of inducing "allergies."

I must learn what this is and how I may use it to my advantage.

I am convinced the other captives are flunkies and maybe snitches. The dog
is routinely released and seems more than happy to return. He is obviously a
half-wit.

The bird, on the other hand, has got to be an informant and speaks with them
regularly. I am certain he reports my every move. Due to his current
placement in the metal room, his safety is assured. But I have patience, I
can wait, it is only a matter of time

I love it, too...though I do find myself hoping my babies don't feel that way. They live in the lap of luxury, and have never even shown any desire to escape it. :D

I think they try to escape without even realizing it. Our cat, Trey, always darts for the door whenever we even go close to it. He always gets far enough to where he gets just one paw on the grass before we scoop him back up. I'm sure he's thinking "sooo close!". We're determined to never let our cats go outside ever again... because we lost a beloved cat to a car when I was in fifth grade :(I'm POSITIVE that your kitties love you, though :D

True...it does seem to be a natural inclination.

What I mostly mean is that we can have the front door WIDE open, forwhatever reason, for a minute or two, and neither of our cats willattempt to run out! It's the funniest thing, and I'veliterally never had cats that didn't at least TRY.

When they were around six months old, there were a couple times thedoor wasn't closed when we thought it was, and our boy Hobbes got mostof the way out the door, but when I saw him, he came BOLTING backin. It was funny! I guess if they're actuallyAFRAID of the outdoors, I don't have much to worry about! Ofcourse, when we first got them, we were living in an area where youcould hear the coyotes yipping around, going down our street right infront of our house, so I'm sure that put the fear of the outdoors intothem, since even SMELLING them made them hide. Lol...poorkitty thought he was dinner! :)

Consider yourself blessed :D I'd much ratherhave a cat who was afraid of the great outdoors than constantly tryingto get to it! We have a lot of cyotes and foxes in our area, but forwhatever reason they never seem phased.
