My dog totally rips up EVERYTHING! My dad is getting tired of it and he wants me to train him not to. He rips up toys we buy him in days eats pillows, paper, furniture, even the paint that peals of the concrete floor in our inclosed porch! So does anyone have suggestions on what to do and toys that I can get him that he can't totally destruct.

He is a Pom and Papillon mix about 10 ibs.

hom it helps:D

I think he is bored, wich is easyily done with dogs!
The indistructaball might be worth a look as well as kong toys http://www.caninecapers.com/. Just keep him busy, dont give him the time of day to destruct things. If nobody is watching him or playing with him or feeding him or training him etc then put him in a crate, but he neeeds something to focus on. How long does he get walked daily?

:yeahthat:

Don't buy toys he can rip apart, buy really sturdy stuff like Kongs and heavy rope toys, etc. Also try some of the treat toys where he has to work to get the treat out and similar, more complex toys. He needs appropriate things to do- structured activities like walks and training sessions at the same time daily- and crate training. Obedience classes would be a good idea too so you learn how to work with him, plus it's more structured stuff for him to do.

You have to train these little guys just like you would a big dog. I see a lot of people that let their little dogs get away with stuff like this where they'd get more mad if it was a big lab that was doing the damage.

Our Sammy (Doxie/Min Pin) gets bored a lot of the times. He eats kongs, hard plastic type toys, and the heavy braided rope toys. I don't think there is a toy out there he can't chew apart :grumpy:.

We just give him raw hides that I buy in bulk. He works on those and it keeps him occupied. He is a little terror if he doesn't have a raw hide.

Well, I don't know if this will help or not, but I'm possessed by a dog who used to have severe separation anxiety (which translated, means, she ate literally everything if I left her home alone....including an entire spiny cactus once). I was forced to crate train her so she'd be okay during periods when I wasn't home, and it turned out to be the best thing for her. She had a Kong filled with a treat (usually peanut butter, lo-cal, but not a lot of it), a blanket to lie on in the crate, a blanket over the crate, and a radio tuned into a talk show station. After training her, she looked forward to going into the crate, and she was much calmer during the day. No more barking, no anxiety, and no more eating the house. She was trained to a crate for about a year and a half, and eventually she didn't need it any more. I still do have to make sure some things are out of her reach when I'm not home (garbage can contents, food on countertops, etc.) but she no longer is 'Destructo Dog' (which is what I actually did call her back then, in between the tears every time I came home to another artifact missing and presumed eaten).

Your dog is CUTE CUTE CUTE!!, btw...:)

I agree with Naturestee. Can't you get something meant for bigger dogs? They have those tough chew toys for excessive chewers. Heck, just give him a tire off a car, lol
