This is the first time we go with this insurance. One time co-pay is my understanding. Well for the basic cleaning and stuff. $50

Don't feel too badly, Ali. I used to have an incredible fear of going to the dentist (stemming from a couple of really bad childhood experiences), but now - as a result of having undergone head/neck radiation - I have to go not once a year, not twice a year, but...six times a year just for basic cleaning. Every four months I have to go, and because the enamel on my teeth eroded so badly because of lack of salivary flow, my teeth and gums are so sensitive that they have to freeze me just for a basic cleaning. AND because they have to freeze me, they have to do the cleaning in two separate appointments, usually a few days apart, because they cannot freeze the entire mouth at once. Erosion of my teeth has also lead to continuous repair work...fillings and surface repairs...so in total I probably am at the dentist's at least 8-10 times a year. :?

I don't like dentists, either. I do like the nice clean feeling of your teeth post-cleaning, though! I had my first two cavities this past year. I had never needed fillings before, and I had a panic attack in the chair when they brought in the Novocaine. They had to give me the gas (while I was hyperventilating) after awhile, I was so looped that I was singing Monty Python's "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life" in my head while they were drilling. I wasn't humming it or anything, but I was just listening to it on my "inner radio" lol (That song is from the "Life of Brian"). I find making myself be elsewhere in my head makes things more tolerable.

Wow! I had to go at about the same time as you lol!! :highfive:

I understand your feelings- I don't hate dentists but they aren't my favourite place to go! Usually the place is hurts most is my purse though... :p

I hope it wasn't too horrible!

Kelly, LOL at the 'inner radio'!! I have one of those too! And an 'inner TV'! :p

Aweh,

I hated dentists too... now I see them every 3 weeks :?

Just on you're next visit tell them what you're comfterble with and what you're not. I told them no needles so they use a gel freezing method. Also, they have laughing gas.. hehe. I never got it because my mom din't belive in drugging me but I know people who did..

I hope it all went ohk:)
I'm quite queer and LOVE going to the dentist/ortho, i've been going once a month since I was like 8ish:p It's great fun!

Ah the dentist is ok. I like them. Just I knew they would be mostly giving me the info for the oral surgeon. Now to set up a consult to have my wisdom teeth removed.:?

Be crazy if we went on the same day- we could keep each other on MSN drugged up to the eyeballs! That would be an interesting conversation!:p

Ali! Don't you know to talk to me about denistry? I've had so much!:p

I was so scared to get a wisdom that had all broke off to the gum, removed. This guy was so good, I didn't even know he did it, it was fast and almost no bleeding or pain at all, afterwards even. I was impressed, so, now I'm not so scared.;)

Best of luck getting the sucker pulled though. Hugs!

Crys:hug:
