Some of you will know that 4 of my guinea pigs died earlier this year, wich left me with one, Basil.

I love him to peices, and through losing all my others he was what kept me strong. I dont want to rehome him over something like this but right now he is alone, he dosent seem very sad about it and seems to be happy about not being bothered by other pigs but then other times he starts the lonely squeek that makes me feel bad, but I dont think I can get another GP but then I want one as he should have a friend, but he has always been difficult to bond with other GP's after Nev. Any thoughts on this? they are herd animals so I feel he should have a friend, but then I think well he dosent seem lonely alot and is happy when he is running around the bedroom with the cats....I'm ready to cry just thinking about him loosing his friends and how he is always alone :( .

You could try working with a rescue, yes they have rescues for just GP's. I am thinking you can either foster and try different pigs with him and then when one works you adopt it, but if it doesnt work out then they would be adopted. I of course would make sure you quarantine t he foster piggies away from your own for at least three weeks then try it to see how it goes. You can look on petfinder for rescues near you, dont count out rescues that are far away because some of them will meet half way. I live in Pa and the rescue i foster for is in the next state over but she travels to an area that is about 30-45 minutes away from me so it isnt that bad we just meet up there.

I really like the idea of fostering some and seeing if any work out!
I have already tried to foster, but none of them around here foster guinea pigs out to people as un-experienced as I  lol. I am currently in my bedroom, with him running around and he shows more interest in the rabbit then any guinea pigs he has ever paired with. Hehe :p
