Wow - sure is hard to believe its ALREADY December 1st....seems like it just turned 2008 a bit ago and we're already in December....where HAS this year gone?

I thought I'd start this thread for December's posts...whether they be about gift-giving, the yucky (or nice) weather, the state of our economy (yuck) or whatever y'all want to talk about!

Happy chatting...

Thanks Peg!

Boy, I don't know whether to be happy that the year is ending or fearing the one coming up! I heard today that we are "officially" in a recession...... I have to say "WELL DUH!!!" It's sort of depressing thinking about it.

Christmas is going to be lighter this year.. we just can't afford it!

On a good note, we have our health, food, heatand a roof over our heads, and so far I can feed my horses and sheep and bunnies and dogs and cats!! So we're better off than many! So I'll try to count those blessings whenever I feel down!

Well this is the warmest first day of December ever I think! It's still above freezing but cooling down rapidly.

I finished my 46 page report on centrifugal pumps, lol, I am so happy its done! Exams start soon which I am not looking forward to.

We recently had an election (just before theUS) and re-elected the same minority government we had before. Today I heard that three of the parties are in talks tohave a non-confidence vote against the party in powerand form a coalition government. Personally that sounds very undemocratic to me. I don't get where these parties get the right to try to take over this countryless than 2 months afterthe people of this countryelected the current party in power.

I can't believe how fast this year has gone by :?

Laura, do your exams start before Christmas? That seems really harsh. Oh and I'm glad that I'm not the only one confused in there being an election, then a few weeks later, the 'losers' not agreeing with the result, and joining together to take over. Sounds like a whole ton of money is going to be wasted :?

Jan

Well it's cheaper than having another election. But what makes me angry is the 3 parties are so different, how can they possibly do any good for us that way? And WHY in their right minds would they join with a seperatist party like the Bloc? And in a time of such uncertainty in our economy, we don't need political instability too.

It's not undemocratic, it just seems that doing it 2 months after the people of this country chose the party in power is undemocratic.

I have exams on the 10, 11, 16, 17 of December. University classes always end before Christmas. It kind of sucks but at least I'm not worried about studying over Christmas!

SpentSaturday at a breeders house for the annual EARS (Edmonton Area Rabbit Society) meeting and elections. The breeder has 300 rabbits at her place.

Here is one of her rare Astrex Rabbit China Doll.

Spent the day with the Mah Society at a seniors home serving turkey we bought, and handing out Christmas presents to 190 seniors.

Here we are with Santa, giving out the gifts.

After their turkey meal, we had children's performances to entertain them.

My gorgeous girls and I share December for our birthdays, hopefully I will figure out~once again~how to post their pics. I used to be able to do it, but now it tells me my file is too large.

-I should change my location, have been back in Canada for years now....LOL-
P.S
Pet-Bunny those pics are amazing, the last one made me tear up...thank you so much for sharing!

Wonderful photos!

I am now putting pressure on my right ankle and I'm starting to learn how to walk again. It's rather hard to begin with because I swear it's harder as an adult then as a child. Not to mention, I've got to learn with a foot that's got a frame on it. After the walks I have to do here in the house, I have pins that either have puss or are red but I'm told that's normal right now. Lots of pain, stress, and fustration.

Thanks Jan. We started this 4 years ago, and now it's an annual tradition for the seniors, and they look forward to have us.

Hi Cher! It's very nice to hear from you. You're back in Canada? You should come to Edmonton sometime. :D

Some of the pictures I have are very emotional. It is so sadto see some of them confined to beds. I have last years pictures of the seniors, and I can see how much they have changed. :(

Thanks Amanda. Every year I try to improve my photography.

To start walking, you have to take baby steps. :hug1
Have you heard about water running? That is where you get into a swimming pool and walk or run while floating in the water. You wear a vest to keep you upright. Doing that puts no weight or pressureon your ankle.

Last night I attended the Sarah Brightman concert.I love her music. She is a wonderful singer and she put on a very impressive show. Her high soprano voice sent shivers in my spine.

Going to shows like that, you are not allowed any recording devices. They even check you at the door. I would feel naked without my camera. So... I snuck in with a smaller film camera and took some pictures. :whistling

Great to hear from you again, Cher. Glad to hear the girls are doing OK (and you too, of course ;))

Amanda, that sounds so painful - no wonder you're frustrated. I hope it gets better every day.

Stan, I was wondering whether you enjoyed the concert - it got a good report in the paper. I remember Sarah Brightman back in the early 80's. She had a a rather raunchy dance group called Hot Gossip, and had a hit with a pop song called "I lost my Heart to a Starship Trooper" , where she wore a skin tight jump suit. Hard to think of her as the same person

That's what makes her so unique. She can sing with the best opera singers and yet perform in light heartedacts where shewas the Red Riding Hood, Princess and the Pea, and Alice in Wonderland where a rabbit pops out in the middle of the stage. It had everything from the gothic to the celebration of Christmas. The stage was massiveand seem to dwarf her, but it was spectacular. I enjoyed it and wishedthe show wouldnever end.

My exams are over! Now 2 weeks and I start working for 8 months. I can't wait to work! I know it's nuts but when I work is the only time I can come home and forget about my day. When I'm in school I am constantly thinking about homework/studying so I never get a break!

I am bunny sitting for a friend that's going home for the holidays (or I will be soon). She doesn't want to drag her bunny along for the 11 hour drive so the bunny will be joining my herd for the holidays!

Enjoy your holidays Laura! Too bad it is so cold rightnow.

I am bunny sitting Cocoa right now. She was here since Saturday, but she is going home tomorrow. Cocoa and Pebbles has been goodbuddies in the play pen. Cocoa is not so timid and shy when Pebbles is around. Oh, Pebbles and Bebe are bonded too. Bebe has just started to chin/groom Pebbles, and at times they will cuddle.

Here is Pebbles trying to get Cocoa to groom her.

I wasn't even looking for bunny ads and then I stumbled across this little beaty...

You can't tell but she is a BEW Harli. And she is from the humane society. I am pretty sure based on her color and because she's spayed, she is likely from the same house that Chase came from. Oh I want!
