My daughter 9yrs old. Has decided to get a bunny. She has a book on the care she is reading, have made a list of supplies and is getting ready for a yard sale. Yes she has to be the primary funding and mover in this project.

Meet a breeder in StatesBoro GA Sunday May 11. Lost the contact info. I know she is an active member here and is in Glennville GA.

At the pace my girl is going she will most likely have a cage, supplies and be finished with the book soon.

When she does get her bunny, this is a great place to come for questions that her book might not have covered. There are lots of experienced bunny owners here happy to help.:bunny24

Found out a while back that is she wants something I better not leave any openings as she will go to it. I think she wants one of the dwarf breeds. Not sure what yet. She has finished he list and cut a "deal" with Mommy. She paid half of the supplies and cages and is doing chores and garage sale to make up the difference. All the stuff should be here by Monday. Now to find a breeder in the Local Hinesville/Glennville/Savannah GA area.

Once her questions really start to roll I'll be here watching over her shoulder when she has questions to ask.

Have always gotten my pets as rescues. Have not seen Nether land Dwarfs at the shelters but I am checking them

If she wants to breed rabbits, obviously you shouldn't get a rescue, but otherwise it's always a good idea to look in the shelters.

Well we searched the local shelters and breeders. She found a Mini Rex and named him Toffee. White with tan spots. Bold little guy. Seems fearless. Now on to spoiling him and litter training. Pics to follow.

That's very exciting that you've found a bunn! Toffee is a very cute name for him, can't wait to see pics :)

So cute!!! Your daughter and your bunny!!:adorable:

Thanks. All three of us are working on liter training him. My Wifey is also trying to teach him to come on command. Yes I told her good luck.
He is getting the same food the breeder was using. He is also getting a small apple slice and a bit of broccoli. He likes both but goes nuts for the broccoli. Little guy is so bold that if I brought a dog or cat in I be he would go sniff them out. Breeder said she handled him daily and I think she must have as he does seem to like being pet. Not sure yet as if I start petting at the top of his head and work back he just stays still. Start on the body and work back and he may stay still or run off. We don't force the issue either way. All of the kids CLAIM that he has bitten them. No bite marks at all. Have to wonder if he sniffed and the kids want the drama of a bite. He does not seems to chew much at all. He has wood toys, cardboard tube and a wicker tube he can hide in. He tosses the card board tube around but it shows almost no damage. The wood toy has been ignored so far. He likes hiding in wicker tube and jumps on it, sniffs it and pushes it but no chewing as far as I can tell. Will have to assign a lesson to my girl. "Is a not chewing baby bunny a problem"

Sweet lil bunbun.

Bunnies do bite without leaving marks. These are usually just warning nips and don't really mean anything.

It's okay that he doesn't chew yet. Some buns just aren't big chewers.
