Darry's built herself quite a nest, and she seems rather stressed and panting a lot.  She doesn't feel pregnant (not that I can get a good feel, she's grunting and lunging), she's not fat, hard or lumpy, as far as I can tell, if that's any indication.  (I've never had a pregnant bunny).  I'm assuming its a false pregnancy.  :lookaround We thought she was spayed, but we don't know for sure, could this an indication that she isn't? :dunno

I've had her for less than a month, she was alone in a cage (as far as I know) with a nuetered male beside her.

Poor Radar doesn't know what to think.  Looks like she's been pulling his hair, too.

She's built the nest in the half of the litter box that's lined with hay (there's litter on the other side) after dragging a towel in there.  There is soiled litter on that half, but under the hay.  It's a very nice nest.  :)

Now I know why she was so set on getting under my roommate's bed.  (She was sent back to her own room).

If you haven/t had her long maybe she ispregnant. People constantly incorrectly sex bunnies. I'd leave the nestalone and keep Radar away from her..take her to a vet if possible.

I know for sure the bunny beside her, Dill, isneutered, I checked myself. I was told before I took those two that they where both fixed. So I'm assuming that Darry is fixed as well... But she could not be spayed as well. I know Wildfire built a nest for about a week and ahalf before she had babies, but only pulled fur immediatly before having babies. When she built a nest and pulled fur not onher due date, it ment she wasn't really pregnant, just a false.

You should check her mamary glands and make sure non of them are producing milk, even if it's a false, she could still make milk. And with out babies to drink, they could get infected.

Also, you should see if you can palpatate for babies. It'sreally hard to describe, but basically you want to use kinda of a gentle pinching motion at the base of her tummy, and feel for any grape like nodes. The most she could be is three weeks, so be firm and gentle, don't squeeze too hard if you feel anything. And they should be moving by now if there are babies, so if you find something, keep your hand on the spot as long as Darry will allow, and it should kick/squirm.

Good luck, and keep us updated. Oh, and take a pic of that beautiful nest!

I didn't think spayed rabbits could have false pregnancies, as it was a hormonal thing. I could be wrong.

Poor Radar. She's not supposed to pull his fur, too!:(

She's plucked him like a chicken! :biggrin

Here's the proud phantom mom and her nest:

And a close up of the said nest... (It's a nice one, isn't it?)

And the plucked butproud phantom papa (who discovered themotherlode of hay, which is happily out of the range of theloopybunny-plucking lop).

So I managed to clean out the 'potty' side of the nest while she waseating. I'm assuming she isn't pregnant. Shedoesn't seem to be hanging out in it anymore, either. Any thoughtsabout dismantling it? Should I? And if so, when?

sas :), pipp :bunnybutt:, dill :brownbunny, radar and darry, :toastingbunsand sherry :bunny24

If she's not that protective of it, I would take it away. If she feels like building another one she will, and maybe leave that one a bit longer.

I cleaned Wildfire's nest (from a false) about a day or two after. She had squished it by then...
