Hey guys...it's me again...Ms. Numerous Questions...lol!!

Ok, so my next question topic (and I have many, unfortunately) is about the cube cage article you can find at http://www.bunnylu.org/housing.html

(My computer doesn't seem to want to post the site correctly, so you'll have to cut and paste the site address into your browser...sorry!!)

We were thinking of building this cage for Bunny, as it would be something that would last her most of her life (pertaining to size), and seems easy and relatively inexpensive to build. But...I'm skeptical...as I am with anything...so I have to ask:

Have any of you built this cage (or something similiar)? If so, would you recommend it? Is it sturdy? Is it something that's movable (as in moving to another home)?

Also, my bunny has the habit of wanting to dig and chew on carpet, so do you guys have a different idea for lining the bottom of the cage? The above article recommends plywood with carpet pieces stapled to it.

Thanks so much for your guys' answers and patience with my incessant questions!! :)

P.S. One more question. I live in Southern California...does anyone have a good place to buy the cubes for a good price that they can recommend? I found them on walmart.com for about $20 for 20 cube pieces.

I like lots of questions!:)

I do have a cube cage, and I will be using cubes to expand all the cages soon. I like them a lot. I used the fasteners that were included and strenthened them with zip ties. I used tile board covered with peel'n'stick linoleum squares for the floor. The new floor is a sheet of linoleum. If you go that route, choose one that's not as slippery! Most lino is too slick for bunnies to move on it well. I used plywood to cover the floor on the second story. It works decently well but doesn't clean as nicely- very bad because the resident bunnies were recovering from soft poop problems when they were moved in. We moved in January, and our cage wasn't a problem. It depends on how you make it. You can always separate it into several pieces for the move.

I don't like using carpet in cages because it's not as easy to clean and some rabbits really like to chew it. If you don't mind the cleaning part, indoor/outdoor carpet is harder for them to pull up. Just make sure the edges are covered or out of reach of bunny teeth. Lots of people use coroplast, which is plastic sign board. Rubber stall mats or exercise mats are another good option as long as you are carefull about the edges.

I bought my first sets of cubes at Shopko, regular price about $15. You can also find them at Target for about $15. They go on sale every once in a while and you can save $5 or so per box.

Another option from the cube cage is a dog exercise pen. Get the tall ones in case your bunny is a jumper.

Thank you so much! You answered all my questions! That was so helpful! :)
