So... just a few days ago I told my friend she was dumb for wanting Netherlands. They are lovely to look at but they are so tiny, frail and active. July 1st I went to my friend Sharon's house, she owns Doty Creek Bunny Farm, in search of some Holland Lop does. She had one doe I was eyeing but after seeing her in person I decided she was not for me and insted got a doe with a body that goes for miles, rock solid and as wide as the Ohio River. Beautiful doe, black VM (white spots and lots of white hairs). I could not bring herhome due to a recent litter but I will be picking her up in 3 weeks, at which time I shall be picking through the baby Hollands Sharon has for sale.
Babble Babble, anyway, I had been watching the Netherlands she had been selling on her site and decided to get them out and have a peek. First up, a little agouti VM junior buck named Keebler. Tiny guy, just a smit bigger than his sire. Posed him up and decided I had to have him. Well, I could not get a buck and not a doe. She had one Netherland doe for sale, a bigBEW girl named Wynona. Sharon made the mistake of buying herat picture look only at4 weeks old from a breeder in Texas. Come ARBA nationals last year,MANY months later, Sharon met the breeder to pick her and a buck up. She was totally scewed over, they did not tell her neither of them carried the dwarf gene and are as she put it "monsters". So after a few litters she decided to sell her, that is where I come in.
I love them both, Keebler is very scared but I met him at Sharon's rabbitry and he was very nice and outgoing so I know it is just stress of the move. Wynona must be very stressed, too, because Sharon said she goes crazy when you try to get her out but for me she just kinda freezes up. Everyone likes Keebler is cute and Wynona is "Oh my god, she is so beautiful! Her eyes!", hehe.
Tiny Keebler, he was so hard to pose, it was only after I gave up that he died to do the side pose.
Wynona, again, did not want to pose. This is from yesterday so they are still settling in. Yes, Wynona is a false dwarf. I do not plan to keep any of the false dwarf babies that may be born. Up side is no peanuts and Sharon said she had 5 babies the last time.
