Son's Rex rabbit has been nosing around looking for "something" like a snack to eat.

He has alfala pellets, crested wheat grass hay, a bit of alfala hayand we give him a baby carrot.

He has more interest in the carrot then the hay or pellets.

Is he missing some nutrient? Is this causing him to nose around like he is looking for a vitamin?

How old is your Rex?

Mine do that if it is the spot I usually give them something good or if it is right after I feed them they want to make sure nothing good was left.

Do you have things for the rabbit to play and chew on? Maybe he is looking for something to chew on? Does he have unlimited hay so he always has something to snack on?

I also think it is normal for a bunny to be more interested in carrots then hay or pellets.

You don't mention toys. Does he have things to play with?
Rabbits are by nature curious and playful. He might be bored, and looking for things to do.

Also, unless he is younger than 2-3 months old, you might see whether he'd like some greens and vegetables. It would be a good addition to his diet.

He is almost 9 months.
We will stick hay in an empty toilet paper core and let them play with that. Also during the hot days they get frozen pop bottles and they have a blast with that.

I forgot to pick up a package of Romaine lettuce last night, my bad.
