This is what I posted to craigslist.
If you are thinking of getting your child a rabbit for Easter, STOP!
Here are some things you should absolutely know:
-You must find an vet who has knowledge pertaining to rabbits. Not all vets will treat rabbits as they are considered "exotic" pets.
-Rabbits do not like loud noises, being picked up or held, or touched on their hind quarters.
And by "do not like" I mean that you may end up bleeding.
Rabbits are prey animals and they think you are trying to kill them.
They will fight back.
-Unless you clean your rabbits litter box (and yes they can be litter trained) every day, it can smell a bit strong.
-Commercial cages (like the ones you buy at Petsmart) are TOO SMALL!
-Rabbits will chew on baseboards, pull up carpet, rip up blankets, eat your books, and chew wires right in two.
-House rabbits can live up to ten years! A bunny is a commitment and should never be purchased as an impulse buy for a child.
-Rabbits have incredibly sharp claws and teeth. They will not hesitate to use them. Trust me.
-Spaying/Neutering can cost up to $250
-You have to cut rabbits nails every month or so, and believe me that is not a fun task.
-Rabbits need special litter. Carefresh or Yesterday News are two of the favorites among rabbit owners.

Call Laurie to adopt a rescued rabbit.
[Note: I am not Laurie. Just a concerned rabbit owner who wants this Easter to be a happy one for all bunnies!]
Why not take your child to Build-A-Bear workshop in Opry Mills mall to make their very own special cuddly bunny rabbit that WON'T bite and scratch them for trying to cuddle.

I got accused of being a corporate worker for Build-A-Bear workshop pushing my own money making agenda.
