Oreo is in a Large My Super Pet cage (as pictured below). This happened because we got an unexpected puppy and I needed her crate desperately. Right now she has a nest box in there and there is virtually NO ROOM. Its sad, so I have the gate open with a xpen so she can have more space until i figure something out (she cant stay like this). What I want to do is combine 2 My Super Pet cage LARGE size into one. I have 2 of the cages already, I just need to figure out how to put them together :\.

I would like them to sit side by side, not stacked up. I feel longer is better than higher.

I'm thinking I need to cut one side off of the bottom, and i'm sure i have to be really careful or it might crack.. and then.. what? Tape the bottom.. no no.. glue it? maybe? I dont know... i really suck at this! Any and all ideas welcome.

I'm really bad at this stuff too. That's why I ended up buying an NIC kit :)

Anyway, my first thought was to stack them. I know you said longer is better but is that because of where you want to put it? Or your bun prefers no levels? I'm not saying that's wrong, I just was under the impression that buns liked levels and being able to get to "high" spots and such.......? Course, that could be because Agnes is such a climber...lol..

Otherwise, I'm assuming that plastic might be hard to work with and cut. Could you make new bottoms with coroplast?

What if you leave the bottoms intact and she can just jump over the side from one cage to the other? If you want you could put a box across the middle so she can jump up to the box and then over. You would have to bend the wires holding the side of the cage together so you can remove the smaller square ends (right side for one cage and left side for the other). Then you push them together and use zip ties to keep it together.

It might be nice for her to have one side to get away from the babies as they get a little bigger, she might tollerate them longer.

I am of the floor space instead of levels team, too. It's a lot more natural, iny opinion (as long as they get run time to build up muscles, which is the prolevel argument).

I would cut down one of the sides (super pets are fairly cheaply made, a strong utility knife or wire cutters should do it). Then I would tape the cracks and then linoleum the whole bottom (or indoor/outdoor carpet) to block the crack as well as weigh down the plastic bottom so it doesn't warp from cutting.

Good luck! I'm looking forward to seeing pictures of the finished product.

What I wouldnt do just to buy it, lol. I cant though, i have spent in the last 3 months over $1000 on all my darn animals! My husband would freak. BUT the agreement we have right now is.. if i cant get this thing to work and I break it in the process, i get a nice new hugemongous NIC LOL! Sooooo we shall see.

Ifeel like more hop room is better than climbing? I'm not sure though, now. lol.

Your idea is pretty awesome! Sounds like something I can do!!!

I'm inbetween your idea and Nelson's Moms' idea now.. hmm. I wouldnt need materials for yours though, so that's a huge plus! I want to make this happen tonight.

I will surely update with pix!

This is alsoa super great idea!! I would have NEVER thought about this.

If you could have seen me this morning looking you would have laughed. I just put the two cages side by side with my head tilted to one side and I almost wanted to shed a tear LOL!

Thanks so much!

So here it is! After the pic I zip tied the tops to lay flat. I didnt remove them all together because I wanted to leave the option to put them back together if I never need it like this again. I bent the same metal hooks that were attached to the frame to hold each other together. I also put in her 2nd level, she loves it! I didnt put her toys or tube in till after the pic. She lost privileges of her fleece blankies because she started chewing and eating when she became preggo.. hope she stops after. You can see where she dug out her entire litter box, she was doing really good with it then stopped when she got preggo too. This isnt the final location. I have another wall that doesnt have any cables behind it, and it fits perfectly. I might just keep it like this, i really like the length it has. Eventually I want to add height. Maybe I can buy 2 more of these cages and rig it. I'll see. Just want to thank you all again!!!!!

Looks great! If you want to expand I would get NIC pannels rather than more cages. They are much cheaper and more flexible. You could still keep the cages inside of the NIC area for play space.
