Hi all, I have tried so much to get the NIC grids here, thought B&Q were gonna get me them, but no, apparently they can't after all. :grumpy: The only other place to get them is a company called Robert May, but it's really expensive from them, according to Flashy, and there's (I think!) only 17 in a box.

B&Q were 23 in a box, for £22.98 (above $40 US) and I need three boxes of them. If they are shipped from the US or Canada, it will probably be very expensive for shipping, but I think less than in total from Robert May, and I wouldn't have to get silver, which is all that's available here.

It's so important that I get them - will mean Ebony can move inside (she and Maddie are friends now), and I can possibly get Cavies.

Of course, I would pay for the whole total amount, but I'd have to pay by cheque, which I know a lot of people wouldn't like, but I'd maybe set up a PayPal account.

Can anyone help me out? I'll send the money first before you send the grids. And does have an estimate for the shipping costs? I wouldn't know where to start what company or anything.

I preferred to not post this in the main forum, because there may be people offering that I wouldn't feel totally safe about.

Just FYI, Michelle wanted me to ship her some and after we found out how much it would cost-for two boxes, she said forget it. It was like $140 for just shipping:shock:. Not sure you're looking to spend that to get them, which would be even more for 3 boxes.

I really wish there were other places for you guys.:grumpy:

Good Luck though;)!

I can look into trying to find some for you here. I think Liquidation world had some cheap ones, but I don't know if they still do.

I have a box of silver ones I got for free, I'll have to count how many grids there are but quite a few. I would be willing to send those to you for the cost of shipping.

I'll have a look around this week end and see if any local stores have some for good prices.

If you want to email or PM me your address (or even just your town for now) I can try to see how much shipping would be at the same time.

It would be good to have more than one person, from different locations look into shipping and NIC prices. Then we can see where it would be cheapest to get them from.

Thanks Crystal! :)

$140 is approx £70 - It was £69 for me to get them here without any shipping, so I am willing to pay that much. I'd rather not, but I will go up to £100 for them (see I really am desperate! :p) And I am closer to the US/Can than Michelle, though I doubt that will have a huge difference.

It doesn't need to be three boxes - I wanted extra grids, so I'll be able to make a piggie cage on top, but if I leave that open top and make the bunny levels from wood without grids beneath 2 boxes will probably be enough. I can make the design a little smaller if needs be. :)

Thanks Dawn!! :D

Silver is fine, the only colour I really don't want is black (would looove pink but I realise that ain't gonna happen ;)).

Will PM you my address now. :)

So I did some asking at the post office. The maximum parcel size I could send is 30kg. The price for sending 30kg is about $150 canadien.

I don't think the panels I have weigh 30kg. The $150 is the absolute max price.

I just counted, and I have 56 panels. How many panels do you need? I can ship you those for just the cost of shipping.

Does anyone else have any shipping costs? Would it be cheaper for someone else to send you some panels?

Oh my gosh, Dawn, could you really send me 56 grids? I need about that many in total (cavy and bunny cage) :). $150 is £75, which I am willing to spend - I would have been paying £70 for them here anyway.

If you were to send them, how would you want me to pay you? I don't know how much it will cost for anywhere else, but that seems like a good price to me. :D

I'll package them into a proper box and get an accurate quote from the post office before I send them to you.

I have paypal, or you can mail me a money order. Something along those lines.

I counted 56 grids last night, and I might be able to scrounge up a few extras.

I don't actually know what each grid weighs, so I don't know what the maximum number of grids I can send before I reach 30kg is. I'll see if I can find someone with a scale for me to use.

Thanks so much Dawn, you have no idea how grateful I am for all the effort you're putting in for me. :hugsquish:

Dawn, do you have any more definite prices? Don't worry if you haven't, I don't want to pester you, just wondering. :)

Ah! I just had a brutal two weeks of midterms, but I had my last one yesterday! Sorry, I got sidetracked with studying. I kept meaning to send you a note to let you know I hadn't forgot about the grids, but I never did.

Oh, and plus the land lady is selling the house so I had to do a big clean up (boys are messy and I live with two...).

I can get you all the prices this week end. If they are agreable then I can ship them next Tuesday (Monday is a holiday here). I'm hoping it's affordable for you. I have no idea how much these things weigh.

Ah that's ok Dawn! :D Knew it would be something like that - I hope your exams went well! :)

Thanks so much , I hope it isn't too expensive too!

Dawn, there's no need for you to send them to me anymore. B&Q (the dtore I was oriinally trying to get them from) called us this morning to say they are in store ready for us to collect. They had told us there was no way they could get them, that they weren't part of their product range or something. :craziness

Thanks so much for all the trouble you went to, I really appreciate it! :hug2: :)

Hey Michaela, I just saw your NIC cage in the photo forum... AWESOME!!! I showed it to Neil and he was saying exactly what I thought - it's really well thought out, and the shape is really cool, it's huge, but it doesn't look huge cause of the way you built it.

YAY for NIC grids (finally huh?!). :D

Love it!

Nadia
