Ohhh, I have missed everyone!! I'm been forum-deprived!!! Just found out the internet's up and running again so I'm back!!

It has been crazy. The heat was incredible. Pandemonium got a touch ofheat stroke--twice!--and Smokey appears to have suffered a mild stroke, but I can't get a good look at her as she keeps hiding. Shewalks/crawls but doesn't hop, and seems to be dragging her left hindleg a bit. Still eating and otherwise her old cranky self, apparentlynot in pain, and there's not much I can do about it--so am just keepingan eye on her and providing ice bottles. As long as she can still getaround to hide from me, she must not be too badly off.:p

Went out the day before yesterday and couldn't wake Pandmonium. She wasbreathing, barely, and was pretty limp. I put her in the carrier andbrought her into the basement infirmary, where she recovered quiterapidly. I returned her to her cage in the cooler evening. Next day, same thing, so she spent the day inside again. Then thankfully the heatwave broke and today was about 75-80 degrees, quite comfortable.

Bub is cranky, Izzy is her old sweet self, and Fenwick continues topull little hair chunks from his flanks (but on the bright side, hisnose is better!). On the hottest day I upended their water crocks allover them and they didn't even care. Seemed to like the shower. Ok,maybe Bub was a bit mad.:p

anyway, I'm back, and everyone survived the heat wave!

Ditto!

Gosh, what a scare, Rose! I was nervousreading the post about Panda-Bear, but saw your smilies and figuredthat somehow it must've worked out. (Ya know when you getthose posts that you can't read fast enough because you're worriedabout the outcome?)

Keep us posted on Smokey. Will say a prayer that all is well and it wasn't a stroke.

Hey, me warped??? Naaww.....:p

Thanks for the welcome back, everyone, and let's see...I'll take thecamera out with me today. Problem is, I can't make Bub sit still longenough and not climb my arm....ought to be interesting!

Carolyn, Pandemonium was fine last I checked (am going out to feedsoon), and we had a lovely cool day yesterday! Can't figure out why shegot hit hardest, but am figuring it's the density of her fur. She wasMAD at me for sticking her in the going-to-the-vet box allday.:pSmokey--who knows? She's really only about as tame as aferal rabbit, and it's gotten worse as she gets old and paranoid. Ineed to get a good look at her but she keeps hiding. I know she'smoving around, I just don't know how well. At her age, I can't believeshe's surviving the heat!

Rose, did you read Dootsmom's post about "Frozen Bunny Butts"?

If not, I suggest you have a look.

Please do keep us posted. I'm a bit concerned about my babies.

-Carolyn

I did indeed, and thought it was a wonderful idea! Will have to look into that!!

All the squirts are fine this morning--I'll put pics up soon.:DYou'll laugh when you see Pandemonium.

Rose

Yes...I would like to see pictures. Istill am worried about them, although I know they're in your verycapable care. Funny how you get attached to other's petswithout ever having met them.
