Many site's I've seen around either don't differentiate safe lettuce from unsafe lettuce. While some specify only Romaine and others both Romaine and Cos.

I've got a piece or Cos put aside as I type this (I'm making ceaser salad yum!) and I was wondering whether Cos (green variety) in a small amount (one leaf?), spread out (maybe once a month) apart is healthy for a rabbit?

I thought Romaine was aka Cos? If they're not exactly the same, they're similar.

Regardless, 'dangerous' lettuce is actually a myth, there is no problem with any kind of lettuce in moderation. Some rabbits will get loose stools from light green and soft leaf lettuces (like Iceberg and Butter respectively), but a leaf every few days as part of a bunny salad is certainly acceptable.

They shouldn't form a substantial part of the diet, though, because they lack nutritional value.

PS: When you're trying to feed a variety of veggies, all lettuces count one.

Wow, I've never heard it called Cos!

I rotate between romaine, green leaf, and red leaf, with no ill effects. My bunnies each get about one large leaf per day, along with their other greens.
